BOX OFFICE: SUICIDE SQUAD Earns $21.8 Million WW This Weekend, Surpasses MAN OF STEEL

Suicide Squad continued its strong box office performance this past weekend, earning another $21.8 million worldwide and raising its collective gross to $672.9 million.  That aligns with previous estimates which calculate the film finishing its run in theaters somewhere between $700-$730 million.

To date, Suicide Squad has earned $297.4 million in North America and is expected to eclipse the $300 million domestic mark by the end of the Labor Day 3-day weekend. By the time the film leaves theater, Suicide Squad's domestic total should be well past the $291 million earned by Man of Steel in North America.  However, the David Ayer directed superhero feature won't reach the $330.36 million Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earned in North America earlier this year.

Still, WB has to be pleased with Suicide Squad's box office performance after scathing reviews and a massive second weekend drop had many analysts predicting that the film wouldn't turn a profit for the studio.

I thought Suicide Squad was a pretty good time, but I think Doctor Strange will be better.
