New SUICIDE SQUAD Image Hints At A More Comic-Faithful Joker/Harley Quinn Dynamic

We did see a cropped version of this already, but a full image of The Joker and Harley suggests a far more sinister relationship than the one we witnessed in the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad.

Many fans took issue with the way Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and The Joker's (Jared Leto) relationship was depicted in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, as the pair were shown to be deeply in love as opposed to the one-sides, abusive dynamic they share in the comics/animated series.

Some early set videos of The Joker slapping Harley across the face seemed to hint that they did toy with idea of being more faithful in that regard, and the image below is further evidence of this. In the movie, after Mr. J rescues Harley they share a kiss before the latter falls/is pushed to safety - but this pic proves that there was originally some threats or coercion involved in their exchange.

Do you think we'll eventually get an alternate cut of Suicide Squad with these scenes restored?

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Suicide Squad is out now, and stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Common as Monster T, and Adam Beach as Slipknot.

Ill take an alternate cut. I was actually looking forward to seeing the abusive relationship play out, but they just made it more conventional with hints of mental abuse

And seems fitting the first comment is bitching about extended cuts

@DannRamm113 - Talking about something doesn't make it "bitching". Why can't people disagree on something without insulting or belittling each other?

@GuardianAngel - because once it becomes a cliche it becomes bitching. Extended/alternative cuts aren't the devil.

@DannRamm113 -
They become the devil when we have to rely on them to get a good version of the films.

@DannRamm113 - Well the fact that we're getting mediocre movies in theaters only to be told we have to pay again to see a better cut is kind of frustrating so naturally people will continue to get angry. If they released a good version in theaters, like Days of Future Past or Lord of the Rings, an extended cut would be welcomed too.

@GuardianAngel - you dont have to pay again if you dont want to...they're not twisting your arm here. If an extended cut does come along all that means is the people who enjoyed the movie get an extra treat when they pick it up for home. You're not contractually obligated to see it a second time.

@MikeKus34 - I don't think you understand. I don't have a problem with the idea of an extended cut. It's just that in THIS case, WB is using it as an excuse to make mediocre movies. Suicide Squad was 2h10. It wouldn't have made any less money had it been 10-20 minutes longer. I know many people who went to see the movie mainly because the Joker was in it. By cutting his scenes, WB can get these people to by the extended cut. It makes people like, who just wanted to see a good movie, feel cheated.

Their past together is such an interesting one. Shame on WB for only giving it a 3 minute flashback. That shit deserves its own movie
