RUMOR: Warner Bros. Mulling SUICIDE SQUAD Spinoffs For Captain Boomerang, The Joker, And More
We already know that Harley Quinn is getting her own movie following the release of Suicide Squad this August, but it turns out that she's far from the only Task Force X member Warner Bros. are high on...
All the signs are currently pointing to Suicide Squad being a hit, but the same could be said for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice a few months back, and we all know how divisive that ended up being. However, with a Harley Quinn movie already in the works, it appears as if Warner Bros. are already considering spinoffs for other key characters based on a new report from We Got This Covered.
The studio is apparently very confident in Suicide Squad and are under the belief that it will be a critical and commercial hit this summer. As a result, there's talk of other Task Force X members getting solo outings: "The Joker is a definite possibility for a spinoff, and Jared [Leto] seems up for it from what I’ve been told. They’re also really hot on Jai Courtney’s character Boomerang right now. Nothing’s set in stone yet, but you’re definitely going to be seeing a lot more of these guys in the years to come."
We've already heard that Deadshot and The Joker will more than likely show up in The Batman, so it's clear that there are already some plans being put in place for these characters. While it's obviously early days, it's easy to imagine at least a handful of this movie's fan-favourites getting their own movies somewhere down the line, but much of that is going to hinge on the reaction to Suicide Squad.
So, as with any rumour, take this with a pinch of salt for now. Assuming these spinoffs do get greenlit, which villains do you think are most deserving of a movie of their own? Let us know in the usual place.
