SUICIDE SQUAD: 5 Members Of Task Force X Most Likely To Die Before The Credits Roll

The marketing campaign for Suicide Squad has begun, but with all those new TV spots and materials comes evidence which may point to the team members who won't make it out of this movie alive...

Suicide Squad features one hell of a cast of both actors and characters, but with a title like that (and decades worth of comic book history featuring many a deceased member of Task Force X), you just know that some won't be making it out alive. While not every villain listed here will die - five casualties may be a bit much - chances are that at least two or three of them won't be back for the sequel!

So, with that in mind, which Suicide Squad characters stand the greatest chance of not making it to the credits still breathing? Well, using a mixture of possible clues, rumours, and good old fashioned speculation, what you'll find here is a look at the members of Task Force X most likely to be killed off in the highly anticipated movie along with some thoughts on the possible ways they'll meet their maker.

Be warned, that some of what follows could be considered potential SPOILERS for the movie...

5. Deadshot

loading

Going in to this movie, it's fair to say that the vast majority won't suspect that Warner Bros. would dare kill off a character played by Will Smith. However, seeing as he's clearly Suicide Squad's third lead alongside Jared Leto and Margot Robbie, it seems obvious that he'll have a significant arc here (hence why we've seen set photos of his past being explored), and that concluding with the one time villain embracing a more heroic path would definitely work if handled the right way by director David Ayer.

Bear in mind that there's precedent for this happening in the comic books too as Deadshot actually sacrificed himself to save the other members of Task Force X before later being resurrected. Harley Quinn falling for Floyd Lawton before he does what needs to be done to save his newfound friends also makes sense if you look at The New 52, and could go some way in setting up her upcoming solo/team-up movie. I wouldn't put money on this one, but it would make for a great (and shocking) twist.

4. Rick Flag

loading

A very long time ago, there were rumours [SPOILER ALERT] that Rick Flag would be revealed as Suicide Squad's true big bad, reporting to Rick Flag Sr. at the end of the movie in order to enact a mysterious plan of some sort. If those claims were accurate, they likely came from the version of the script which existed before David Ayer took over, but you still have to wonder what the overall purpose of Flag will be in this movie.

The leader of Task Force X, Flag may very well be the only good guy in the picture here, but the fact is that it's going to be a hell of a lot more interesting moving forward if this team doesn't have him following them around barking orders. Whether Flag is outed as a villain and is killed or ends up sacrificing himself because he sees the potential for the villains he leads to do good and wants to inspire them reamains to be seen, but either could work. It's also worth noting that like Deadshot, there's precedent in the source material for Flag being the one to end up dying.

3. Enchantress

loading

Up until the recent release of a TV spot depicting Enchantress making some government types look extremely uncomfortable while an amused Amanda Waller looks on, I had reached the conclusion that she was actually set to be Suicide Squad's villain rather than just another member of Task Force X. While it's strange we haven't seen her alongside the rest of the team (there's definitely more to her role than meets the eye, that's for sure), it now looks like she'll be on their side.

Either way, I don't expect the character to make it out of this movie alive. Regardless of whether she ends up being turned against Task Force X by another mysterious force or really is the person they're sent to take down, Enchantress feels like someone whose story is probably best told over the course of just the one movie, especially if they're going to follow the comic books by having June Moon struggle with her newfound dark side. My money is definitely on her being taken out by Task Force X when all is said and done!

2. Killer Croc

loading

While it's important to remember that Suicide Squad is about a bunch of bad guys, chances are that at least a few of them will end this movie somewhat redeemed. They'll no doubt still be "bad", but by doing good, they'll become easier for the audience to relate to and root for. However, that definitely shouldn't be the case with every member of Task Force X, and Killer Croc stands out as someone who should start this movie off as a hateful monster and end it as one...before dying, of course!

While the Batman villain could very well make his presence felt in a future movie starring the Caped Crusader, it ultimately seems unlikely, and you have to ask yourself what can really be done with a character who is little more than muscle. Killer Croc by his very nature feels expendable, and the non monstrous version above could never carry an entire movie on his shoulders as a the big bad. I'm not sure how this will go down, but Croc getting what's coming to him here seems relatively likely.

1. Slipknot

loading

This one is pretty much a guarantee when you look at the evidence. After all, the Suicide Squad trailers have shown Slipknot seemingly making his escape when Task Force X is first deployed, and chances are that scene is followed up by Amanda Waller or Rick Flag setting off an explosive and blowing his head off for disobeying orders. Hell, with Katana serving as Flag's bodyguard, I wouldn't be surprised if she's dispatched to deal with him, adding yet another soul to that sword of hers in the process.

Slipknot has also been conspicuous by his absence in scenes featuring the team which clearly take place a little later in the movie. Plus, Suicide Squad needs some expendable characters, and this guy is without a doubt one of the most likely candidates to meet his maker before the time the credits roll. Having him die early on would also up the stakes and make it clear to the rest of the team that they have no other choice than to do what they're told by Amanda Waller and A.R.G.U.S.

Which character do you think will meet their maker in Suicide Squad? Have we missed any other likely candidates? As always, weigh in with your thoughts in the comments section below.

Lol. I don't even need to read this to know Slipknot is going bye bye.

That said, Enchantress and Slipknot are the most likely candidates. I thought Diablo might at first but he looks to be more interesting than I thought he'd be.

@MattBellissimo - I definitely agree. Slip knot will definitely be the first to go I assume. Poor guy doesn't stand a chance haha

@MattBellissimo - Captain B apparently was one of the only things that people haven't complained about. His comedy and douchiness won a lot of people over in the initial trailer. I think he's safe.

Katana and Deadshot were built up a lot on Arrow, and the executives made the show get rid of their versions of the characters. There's no way DC would do that if they were just intending to kill these characters.

Harley and Joker are obviously safe..

Killer Croc may just be muscle but he's a Batman character. DC would understandably come underfire for killing off a Batman character in a non-Batman movie...So I think he's safe.

That leaves the lesser known characters, that non-fan audiences would not care so much about moving forward: Rick Flag, Enchantress, Slipknot, and Diablo.

@MattBellissimo - For a Suicide Squad story to work, at least one person has to get their head blown up for trying to escape. Slipknot is the most likely candidate.

@MattBellissimo - I have a feeling that Slipknot will be the unsung hero of this movie. They'll let us believe he is dead and we'll believe it because the character is such a minor one and then he'll save the day in the end.

@OldManLogan88 - actually that could be a great twist!

@KikinGonzalez - I think they have a bunch of twists that they're keeping under wraps, judging by how little they've shown of anything substantial.
