Ben Affleck has been praised by both critics and fans for his portrayal of the Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and now it's Jared Leto's turn to show the world what kind of Joker this new and darker Batman has to deal with. The reveal of the Joker's new look for David Ayer's Suicide Squad shocked fans, as no one was expecting the Clown Prince of Crime to be covered in ink, but with every new Batman comes a new Joker. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, director David Ayer revealed the reasons behind the Joker's new look.

“The Joker has a lot of different looks, sort of built from the looks throughout the history of DC Comics but with a new sort of flair and flavor on him so he does feel like a modern-day gangster, because… he’s always been a gangster,” said Ayer. The Joker has always been a character that would evolve just as much as Batman would with his suits, and it looks like Ayer wants to the Joker to live up to his name as the Clown Prince of Crime.

When asked how involved he was in creating the Joker's look, Jared Leto added: "David had some very specific ideas. As far as the look of the Joker, it was a collaborative process. There were things I brought to the table and things David brought to the table and it was a mashup of both of our sick and twisted minds. There were specific things that he liked and wanted and I was there to help bring them to life in the best way I could."

Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, with Raymond Olubawale as King Shark, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Adam Beach as Slipknot. Directed by David Ayer.

I really don't care how Joker and Apocalypse look because you got great actors like Jared Leto and Oscar Issac.

Hearing Ayer and Leto talk about the Joker's look throughout the history of the comics plus seeing the Greg Capullo influence in the last trailer got me so [frick]ing hyped.

I cannot [frick]ing wait....

@DrKinsolving - Even Greg Capullo took notice. I like the tattoos, and Ayer is a crazy character writer/director. I'm positive the Joker's reasons for getting tatted are going to be dark/hilarious/[frick]ed up

@Kr08 - Hell yeah man, I can't wait. In my eyes, Leto is perfect casting, and I can't give Ayer enough respect, Ayer is a Boss. I'm [frick]ing hyped.

@Scorpo - Holly crap, that would be awesome if he cameos...Wonder what ever happened with Deathstroke being in this movie?
Scorpo
Scorpo - 4/17/2016, 8:28 PM
@BANE5000 - I think Deathstroke would be too forced, but I have been saying this for a long time...
have them walk down an area with a bunch of cells, and they opass regular looking criminals, and then you see famous DC villains (riddler, captain cold, Cheetah, etc.)

@Scorpo - That would be awesome, even show Eisenberg/Lex for a sec

I was just asking about Deathstroke cuz wasnt that Joe Manganiello guy up for the role early than he dropped out...than we just never heard about it again

@BANE5000 - I'm guessing they couldn't get anyone, so they scrapped him
too bad though

@Scorpo - Maybe they realized they couldnt top Manu Bennett's bad ass portrayal of Deathstroke on Arrow :D
Scorpo
Scorpo - 4/17/2016, 8:49 PM
@BANE5000 - I think they can, all they have to do is get someone to do his portrayal, and then make him go toe to toe with Ben Affleck as Batman.
this Batman is brutal, so Deathstroke would have to be EVEN MORE brutal

BANE5000 - 4/17/2016, 8:54 PM
@Scorpo - Very true, the only non super powered person i can see who could be on the same fightng level with this brutal Batman would be Deathstroke
