The Men Of SUICIDE SQUAD Talk About Their Roles As Supervillains

Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), and Adam Beach (Slipknot) talk about their roles as some of the craziest supervillains DC Comics has to offer in David Ayer's Suicide Squad.

Task Force X is chock-full of some of the most unique and craziest villains in the DC Universe who really have no choice, but that doesn't stop them from being their crazy selves. The men of David Ayer's Suicide Squad have gotten to know their characters very well and are ready to show the world how evil they can be, starting with Jai Courtney who has embraced Captain Boomerang's abrasive personality. "He's sexist, he's racist, he's a total piece of shit and that's something I've embraced fully," explains Courtney. "It's Boomer's job to state the obvious, do the wrong thing and annoy everybody with his ignorance."

Just like Captain Boomerang and many of the other members of Task Force X, Slipknot has a special set of skills that make him a very dangerous criminal, and Adam Beach says that they come in handy when wanting to make a quick getaway. "I'm a master of ropes. If we need to get out of a situation, nobody can fly. But with my equipment I can fly pretty fast." Considering how Slipknot is rarely seen in the film's trailers, it's more likely he's flying pretty fast towards his death.

Most of the members of the Suicide Squad have very dynamic personalities with only a few exceptions, one of them being the silent gangster El Diablo, played by Jay Hernandez. "There's almost a religious, Zen-like quality to him," says Hernandez. "He's turned his back on his lifestyle. Part of the story is waiting for the moment when he decides to fight so you can see what he can do. When it happens it's phenomenal." Hernandez then went on to talk about how director David Ayer helped get in touch with El Diablo's inner demons. "The stories he's told delve into the seedy underbelly of humanity and he's bringing some of that into this movie through my character. It's such a unique thing to see in a superhero movie."

At first I thought El Diablo was gonna bite it, but he's actually become a lot more interesting to me.

But yeah, "I'm a master of ropes." Lol you're done.

@MattBellissimo - I think it'd be awesome if someone else died and Slipknot lived. It would FINALLY be a piece of unpredictable writing from DC. I'm not even a fan of Slipknot, I just think it'd be cool to finally see something unexpected in a DC movie...like if The Joker killed Deadshot and Slipknot ended up catching The Joker....will it happen? doubt it, but it would definitely surprise people, and in a day and age where we all know basically everything that'll happen in a movie before the movie is even released, this twist would be welcomed.

Sorry... but i think we all know how cheesily this is going to go down.

Everyone will think that Slipknot is dead during an earlier scene of the movie. Then later we'll have the Joker toss Harley out of a window mirroing tossing her into the vat of chemicals - that shot of Harley Quinn falling from a building with the street below. Then suddenly Slipknot will appear to save her, catching her.

The only character it makes sense to kill off is Joker and Killer Croc. Joker will obviously be back, but Killer Croc was killed in the Suicide Squad animated movie and they seem to be adapting that... plus he's the most physical and CGI intensive of the cast.

@MattBellissimo - There is, there were comments about it a while back. We have a joke with Killer Croc where he either eats or vomits up something in the helicopter. Along with this we also have reports of him eating people.

gotta give DC credit for doing suicide squad - something new and fresh at the start of their new cinematic universe which most would view as a risky move. hope this is good but i still hate how they all look

So, I am looking forward to this movie, BUT, I feel DC is shooting itself in the foot again...The trailers give away waaay too much. And, with a movie called Suicide Squad, you shouldn't start announcing which members of the Suicide Squad will be in sequels and/or getting solo movies. doing so takes away any sense of Danger for those characters as we know they will survive. when will Comic book movies learn that LESS is MORE? imagine how surprised and hyped the theatre would have been if Spider-man and Ant-man were never in a trailer? or if Doomsday and Wonderwoman were left out of trailers and promo stuff...sigh

Slipknot sounds a lot like Trump.
"Nobody can fly, now let me tell you something, I know how to fly, I can fly the fastest, it's going to be awesome"
