'Superman' Is Finally Being Cast For SUPERGIRL - But With One Twist!

Though Kara's slightly more famous cousin has had a presence on Supergirl already, the CBS show is now casting an actor to play the Man of Steel for a 2016 debut.

Superman has been depicted on Supergirl already, but only via a few blurry, shot- from-behind glimpses. Now, TV Line reports that an actual actor will be cast to portray the Man of Steel on the show... a 13-year-old actor, that is.

Yes, our first proper introduction to Kal El on Supergirl will be through flashback, as a bond is established between a teenage Supes and his cousin, Kara (Melissa Benoist). Apparently they're looking for a 13-year-old actor with “future leading man looks” to play the potentially recurring role. The character will be introduced in episode 13 of the show.

What do you guys think about this? A smart way to go about it, or should they have just gone with the older version? Sound off below.

Huh? How can a 13 year old Kal interact with Kara on Krypton?

Huh? That makes no sense.

Yes, our first proper introduction to Kal El on Supergirl will be through flashback, as we return to Krypton to establish the bond between a teenage Supes and his cousin, Kara (Melissa Benoist). Apparently they're looking for a 13-year-old actor with “future leading man looks” to play the potentially recurring role. The character will be introduced in episode 13 of the show.

Oh on Krypton. That makes no sense still. Superman was a baby when he was in a rocket.

MrJedabak - 11/24/2015, 4:52 PM
Wait, but didn't Kal leave Krypton when he was a baby and Kara was 13? And when Kara got to Earth she was still 13 but, due to the wormhole, Kal was much older and had already become Superman.

So how the hell can adult Kara interact with 13-year-old Kal?

I'm so confused...

Since the TV shows are not beholden to the movies, and neither the TV shows nor the movies apparently have any issue with tweaking the source material, this comes as no surprise. Heck - "Gotham" has introduced so many villains who are a good ten to fifteen years older than Bruce Wayne that by the time he becomes Batman, more than a few of them will be ready for the geriatric wing at Arkham Asylum.

Umm no...makes no sense. I'd rather you leave Supes out if they're gonna go this route. No teenage Supes on Krypton. Period.

"Lil’ Supes will first appear in this season’s 13th episode via a string of flashbacks that will establish the cherished bond between him and Kara."

That's from the article, it doesn't mention Krypton. I guess it's just a whole episode of Clark flashbacks, so maybe it shows when they first meet on Earth? I think he'd have to be older tho, based on what we've seen.

There should be some kind of misunderstanding at work, because that as described doesn't fit at all with what we've seen so far.

I'm pretty sure that breakdown is wrong or he is a hologram like Kara's mother. I really hate the way Warner Bros handles it's comic movie and tv departments so much. I doubt anyone would confuse Henry Cavill with whoever they cast on Supergirl as an adult Superman. Seriously, it won't cost the movies at all and may even lead to more interest.

I'd honestly be more interested in seeing Mr. Bones in the background of the DEO at this point, maybe Kara's father's experiments made him that character.

jaysin420, TV line has amended their original post! It definitely mentioned the flashbacks being on Krypton as that was what I found most strange about it.

Anyway, it seems to have been cleared up now: no teenage Supes on Krypton.

What's so hard to figure out? This is typical New World Order programming - you cannot have a man be a hero. All male heroes must be retrofitted so that the woman is the real hero.
