Henry Cavill And Zack Snyder On Chances Of Another Standalone SUPERMAN Movie

Sure, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice technically classifies as a sequel to Man of Steel, but it can't really be called a standalone Superman film.  With the DCEU schedule already filled out for the 4 years, what are the chances of Superman anchoring another standalone film before Cavill's time as Kal-el is up.  Zack Snyder stated, "I think if we can get a good script, it would be great to get a standalone Superman movie.  I think that would be fun to do...Part of the reason we didn't announce a standalone superhero movie is to support some of the event of [Batman v Superman]. "

When asked the same question, Henry Cavill replied, "I do believe it depends on the success of this movie.  If this goes well then we can start to negotiate with Warner Bros. for a standalone Superman movie.  But they've got their plans set out for other stuff and Justice Leagues and various other movies, so it's about finding the time, really.  It's something that I would be very keen to do."

DCEU producer Charles Roven stated that internal discussions are actually taking place right now about whether it makes sense for another standalone Superman movie. "We're in the process of looking at that, but we don't have it on the schedule at the moment because we're quite busy with the movies that we have scheduled."

All of this is just pseudo-speak for "No, there isn't going to be another for a while."

You shouldn't have to "negotiate" for a Superman film.

@MattBellissimo - agreed. he's guaranteed to make money and everyone knows and loves Superman. I would rather get another decent Superman film than Aquaman, Flash or more Suicide Squad.. But I'm biased against the casting of Aquaman and Flash. I would like to see those movies, but with better actors.

@slickrickdesigns - Sounds like the same thing most people said when Affleck was cast as Batman and Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman. Those 2 turned out to be great choices, so I'll wait to see them before I pass judgment.

@MattBellissimo - WB doesn't care about Superman. Superman is dead. Bury it.

@aantny88 - Yeah, I already know they will be meh... Just like Eisenberg was a horrible choice for Lex.

@MattBellissimo - I know right? Like wtf. Just because a movie didn't meet expectation and they decide to not make a movie about it for the next 10 years?

@slickrickdesigns - Everyone loving Superman is a stretch. I know more people that can't stand the character than I do people who even kind of like him. I'm willing to bet it's because we haven't been presented with a great film depicting him this generation.

@PietroMaximoff - Well, I don't know many people who don't like the actual character Superman... Not MOS Superman, I mean just Superman the myth, the Legend, the Original Super Hero who set new standards for comics. If you don't know many then maybe you hang with a depressing group of pessimistic a-holes. If someone hates Superman I think they might be a horrible person as Superman is the ideal everyone should strive to be to make them a better person. Hits "Super""Man" be super, stop not being super and stop hanging around stupid people ;)

@slickrickdesigns - They're not depressing, they just don't read comics and are only familiar with the movies and kind of the TV shows. I don't like Superman either. The boy scout thing is annoying to a lot of people. He's just a boring character. And you know, I felt that same way about Captain America until the Winter Soldier film and it all changed. Now he's my favorite Avenger. Goes to show how much a film portrayal can change the public's perception of a character.
