COMICS: Man Of Steel Tie-In Reveals Supergirl (Kara Zor-El)?

A preview of the Man of Steel tie-in comic that comes with the blu-ray seemingly reveals the fate Supergirl (Kara Zor-El). The comic book is written by screenwriter David S. Goyer so does that mean Supergirl will be introduced into the budding DC Cinematic Universe (DCCU)?

Soon there is going to be a digital comic that ties into the Man of Steel Film and the preview has got some very interesting stuff in it..including what appears to be the story of Kara Zor-El's journey to Earth in the Man of Steel Universe. My guess is that Kara Zor-El is going to appear in Man of Steel 2..

Per DC Comics:

When you preorder the Blu-Ray Combo Pack or DVD of Man of Steel (PG-13), you'll not only be the first to own the film, but you'll get a free bonus digital comic book written by David Goyer; the writer of Man of Steel and the Dark Knight trilogy of films. You'll also get a free download of three Superman animated episodes (see store for details)

I can really see an expanded universe in Man of Steel focusing more on Superman characters than other heroes.

supergirl, is not the war machine of DC.... IMO thats more like John Stewart, or Nightwing.. more along those lines. but this is interesting.. wonder how theyre going to play this, i love supergirl but honestly id think a superboy story would be more interesting with the whole cloning and lex thing

She's gonna die...she better die.

More than one supers in a story is pretty boring, they're the most invincible team-up. Plus, Kara only turns Kal into a preachy character instead of the lead by example type.

Anyone else feeling some Matrix influence here?

First was Morpheus's voice over in the latest trailer.

Now this comic book is a straight rip off of this:

Guys, if written correctly, she could be AMAZING in Man of Steel 2. But what if its bigger then that? What If Man of Steel 2 involves Batman?

A adaption of this would be fantastic. Bring it on. Superman/Batman Apocalypse!

@ Gyasiman - No, you can make that a World's Finest movie, but there is no way in hell Batman should show up in a goddamn Superman movie. Every stick to their own movie.

This is why I hate shared universes. Everyone has to show up, just because they exist.

It is actually from Josh at Fan Art and it was commissioned by a IGN employee by the name of Alexis to be her profile picture. Still, it is bad ass!

Jeez-- the movie's not even OUT yet, and already there's Blu-Ray pre-order shenanigans afoot? How soon is this thing getting released-- August? What fresh madness has our society fallen prey to?

(... Aw, who am I kidding? The sooner I can get this movie on Blu-Ray, the better!)

But on to the comic: while I'm not thrilled by the idea of working Supergirl into the Man of Steel universe, I am intrigued. Hopefully this will just be a sort of "wouldn't it be cool"-type bonus thing, and it'll all be wrapped up somehow by story's end so that we DON'T have to see Kara Zor-El in Man of Steel 2. 'Cause frankly, Supergirl is redundant-- ESPECIALLY in a cinematic universe.

Whoever designed the costume for this movie should give a class on how to re-design an iconic outfit and rock that $h*t! I'm in total agreement that this should be his outfit in the comics.

Supergirl would be great. Her first movie was the first shared movie universe movie.

Its all in the execution so I won't get worked up.

The iconic "superman the movie" established a very high quality film version of superman- but the supergirl spinoff is laughably terrible.
Conversely the "superman animated series" added supergirl to great effect and brought the "new gods" into play.

We'll see.

Supergirl played the way she should've been played from the beginning -- as "holy SHIT, another Kryptonian, how to react to this?" -- would be a great addition in a franchise that already seems to be interested in human ambivalence toward extraterrestrial visitors.

Supergirl doesn't *have* to be an overlooked distaff counterpart. She's just been used that way repeatedly by lazy writers who don't want to have to go into realistic fallout of a character on par with Superman showing up, sans folksy midwestern morality.
