Noel Neill during Superman Returns DVD and Video Game Launch Party

Noel Neill, the first actress to play Lois Lane in live-action in The Adventures of Superman in 1948, has passed away. Neill also had cameo appearances in both Richard Donner's original Superman, and Bryan Singer's Superman Returns. She was immortalised when a statue of Lois Lane was erected bearing her likeness in Illinois, after being honoured with the title "“First Lady of Metropolis” in 2011.

Neill’s manager/biographer, Larry Ward, broke the news of her passing in a Facebook post, in which he also paid tribute to his friend.

Awe I enjoyed seeing her in a lot of the superman documentaries along with that she seemed to have a lot of passion when it came to the man of steel

@Mickeus @EveryoneElse

Shit, was that in bad taste? Sorry, I didn't mean to disrespect her. I was just making a classic "Gusto is old" joke.

Sorry everyone!

No!!!
I fvcking knew it!!

I was hoping to see her cameo in Man of Steel, as she has performed, onscreen, with every single cinematic Superman (except for Cavill).

When I saw she wasn't in it, I realised that a cameo from Noel Neill was the most important element of BvS and was very vocal about it.

So, unless she's already filmed a cameo for Justice League, Snyder has royally fvcked up and missed his chance completely here.

Now Cavill is great casting for Superman, but his first film had a mixed reaction and his second film was pretty much burnt at the stake.

Without Noel Neill's blessing, was Cavill's Supes always destined to fail?

You done fvcked up, Snyder.

RIP, too. What a woman.
