Hmm, very few scenes there from The Quest for Peace - I just can't understand why? On a more serious note, this might just tempt me to finally get a Blu-Ray player. Would have been good to get Supergirl thrown in there too though.

Yeah I agree @ woodsy100...throwing Supergirl into that mix wouldve been sweet. I remember that movie being total cheese...but hey it was the 80's, the cheese decade.

Yes! Donner Cuts!! I'm so buying this, and I don't even have a blue-ray player yet...

They've already released a set with all these. Other than the first one none are watchable repeatedly. Are they gonna keep putting them out like Star Wars? They'll re-release when Snyder's film is out too.

@CapFan, I doubt it because they are trying to separate the Synder film from the past movies. Combining them into a single box set would defeat that purpose

What ever happened to the Director's cut that Bryan Singer promised us that included footage of Superman visiting his destroyed world, which clips were shown in the movie trailers at one time on TV. They should have included that in this Box set.

woodsy100 - 3/30/2011, 6:52 AM
@Markus316, I seem to remember Singer saying that the theatrical version was the director's cut. Hopefully those deleted scenes should show up amongst the 20 hours of extras.

With the Superman I and Superman Returns blurays already in my collection, this really needs to be in a bargain bin for me to buy it.

Superman II theatrical is the only other feature that I want on bluray (along with a Director's Cut of SR).

*Superman IV in high def???* It already looks horrific enough in standard def LOL (??!!)

8 Discs? That sounds much better than the originally listed 5 discs. I may pre-order this now.

People cling onto the original films with a passion and nostalgia, but if we're all honest with ourselves here, many of us would conclude that they aren't actually very good... I for one just can't watch them anymore, with the visible strings and card-board sets, the buffoons trailing after a camp and non-threatening Lex Luthor... Having said all that, I'm guessing the bonus features will be the same ones that are already on 1-4 and Returns, and if so they are actually well worth a watch. Really interesting stuff.

I loved the superman 1 and 2. Returns did work for all the wrong reasons...

I'm really glad that Nolan, Goyer and Synder have decided to make a fresh Take on the Character!

we need a New superman movie for the ages!

Meh.....Probably not much in this set that isn't already out.
Off the subject though, does anyone know what theme music is playing towards the second half of the trailer? I'm a big fan of movie/trailer scores.

Superman 1 & 2 kicks ass! 3 & 4 suck donkey balls. Returns wasn't as bad as 3 or 4, but could've been a lot better without the kid and if he wouldn't have "fought" the real estate mogul again.

ok speaking as someone who HATED Superman Returns with a passion, i agree. BUT..my question is to the dude who said Returns is outdated...how the hell is it outdated ? it was 5 years ago !!

I'll wait a few years for the bargain bin too, if that. The only thing i liked about the old films was Reeve's performance in them(not Sup's character per say, but rather his intensity). Other than that, every other detail about them makes me cringe when i watch them in this day and age. SR was "OK" to me. A well filmed modern take of a bad and way outdated storyline. But at least, i can still watch it again today, contrary to the Reeve films. But that's just me. I think better acting could have made it a way different film (excluding Spacey). Better writing would have been a definite plus, too LOL.

These are not old movies, they are classic movies.

The maquettes and real sets register on the brain much better than bad CGI.

None of you f*ckers who are complaining should buy them then. Stop your god damn whining about how 3 & 4 sucked(not saying they didnt), or how you'll wait for the bargain bin.

If you don't likey, don't f*ckin buy them. I will, and f*cking enjoy them. God damn you people cry like babies.

This was all in my "opinion" by the way, so don't you dare give me a bad reply!! LOL!!

FYM!! ;-)

To me the old films ARE entertaining, I respect what Donner did back then AND Christopher Reeve's performance, to me He IS Superman. It will always survive the test of time in my opinion

I've got all of em on DVD and RETURNS and Donner cut with SUPERMAN THE MOVIE on BR!

Not forking out for this for SUPES 3 & 4 lol! : P

Sweet stuff tho, but WB should have brought this out ages ago!

You are all blasphemous fools! I can't think of any comic based movies from the 70's and 80's and 90's(that's 30 years!!) that were any better. This anthology is part of cinema history, like the Godfather and your precious Star Wars! Which is crap by today's standards so they digitally remastered it and added "new" footage. Pile of sh*t Star Wars! Try watching it on VHS...looks just as shitty as Superman 1-4. How many people that comment here were actually Alive when the Superman movies came out? I was born the year before the first and saw 3 & 4 in the theatre and F'n loved them. I still to this day have an occasional Superman marathon. I will always love them even If the new one is "better".
