Is NIGHTWING In Steven McQueen's Future After All?

Steven R. McQueen has made no secret of his desire to play Nightwing. While the former Boy Wonder never visited The CW's Arrow, will McQueen get his wish granted on TNT?

Steven R. McQueen, a regular on The CW's The Vampire Diaries is leaving the show later this season.  Showrunners for the vampire drama gave indication today at the Winter TCA's that The Vampire Diaries is in it's third and final act of storytelling, despite the show being renewed by The CW for one more season.  With the show continuing and McQueen's early and unexpected departure, fans are already speculating that McQueen is gearing up to go after (or has already landed) the Nightwing role on TNT's Titans.  As covered in the recent Supergirl news, TNT is a subsidiary of Time Warner, make it possible (on paper at least) for Titans to have a connection with Arrow, Flash and CBS' Supergirl (perhaps even the newly announced VIXEN animated series).

Fans will recall that McQueen heavily campaigned for the role of Dick Grayson and had many convinced that Nightwing would turn up on Arrow.  That didn't come to pass but perhaps the TNT Teen Titans drama gives McQueen's Nightwing aspirations new life?

The Vampire Diaries showrunner Julie Plec says the door will be open for McQueen to return for the show's final episode or some other significant barring McQueen's busy fighting crime.  "[McQueen] will  always be welcome to join [The Vampire Diaries] for important events — unless [McQueen] finally gets his wish to play a superhero and he’s unavailable."

I would personally be more skeptical of this but Plec's offhand reference of McQueen's desire to play Nightwing could very well mean that McQueen is in the running.  Is Plec implying that McQueen is leaving The Vampire Diaries to pursue Nightwing and if he doesn't secure the role then he's free to return?

I kind of doubt the two have a relation, but McQueen would be a great choice. It is confusing however that the synopsis for "TITANS" directly mentions Batman ("The action series centers on Dick Grayson (probably best known for his alter ego as Robin), who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing") yet none of the TV shows are supposed to be involved or have direct connections or mentions to Batman or Superman.

On the subject of Nightwing, this got me thinking back to when Adam Driver, Ezra Miller, and Penn Badgley supposedly tested for the role in Batman v Superman. Is Miller's casting an indication that they had (contrary to reports) actually tested for The Flash?

I personally think Ian Somerhalder would have been a better Dick Grayson. But he now is older then the character is, so that doesn't work. As for this news I'm not really a fan of it. Hopefully it will work though. I just hope Nightwing's suit will be blue instead of the red one.

If this is connected to the DCCU I would be so happy. Probably will be connected to the CW universe though. Ugh. I don't want any of the established shows, but any new shows, with the exception of Supergirl, should be developed to coincide with the DCCU. Using higher quality networks like AMC and HBO could give the shows the cinematic quality they deserve. But we're stuck with fans clamoring for connection to shitty CW shows. Please, DC, use HBO to continue DCCU continiuty!

Teen Titans is worthy of it's own movie. It was DC's response to Uncanny X-Men in the 80s.

If TT is connected to the DCCU I would be so happy. I hope the DCCU can be as successful as the MCU, on TV and on the silver screen. Just hope they utilize HBO too.

NO! Keep DCTV and the DCCU in their own universes with no bridge between the two.
