Thanks to casting calls and audition tapes multiple sources have learned new details regarding the Flash's 2nd season. Including a new love interest for Barry, Detective West's new partner AND a new superhero !

First Up is the new superhero, who is named as "John Clark" in the audition tapes. Keep in mind this is probably not his real name and just the producers trying to keep us nosey fans in the dark for a little longer. The character is an older man in his 30's to 40's, and even refers to Barry as "kid" in the audition tapes. He knows Barry's secret identity and has a rocky alliance with team Flash. The character also has trouble controling his powers and envy's Barry's ability to do so. This character is said to be one of the main characters for the season and will appear in multiple episodes. Whether this is the same character who was described as square-jawed and cynical by an earlier source is unknown.

So who do you think this is ? This could be anyone from Damage to Captain Atom to The Elongated Man to Jay Garrick or maybe even an older Green Lantern. Whoever you think it is sound off below !

The 2nd bit of info is the identity of Detective West's new partner. Who is revealed to be Patty Spivot ! Barry's love interest from The New 52 comics. I think it would be safe to say that Patty will be the Felicity-like love interest talked about by an earlier source

The Flash returns in October 2015 on the CW

UPDATE:

Here are the audition tapes for the mystery hero, found by @Arrowverse

There are a few grammatical errors, but this is awesome info!

I don't think "John Clark" is Capt. Atom. There's already an Atom and WB along with other big company's doesn't think we have the brain function to distinguish between the two. I think he's Jay Garrick. We already had the helmet in the season finale.

Watched the videos and I can say this isn't Jay, for a few reasons...

Captain Atom? People seem to be pulling that one from nowhere...not only do the tapes indicate NO commitment to anyone (military of civilian) but his persona is a complete 180...on top of that they have already begun to and plan on delving more into nuclear and atomic powers with Firestorm...and "Captain Atom"..."The Atom" talk about confusing the average fan....

Much more likely its Grant Emerson, Al Rothstein, or Al Pratt or some combination of the three

It would be great if it is ether Jay Garrick. Green Lantern/Hal a better version. Or Tom Welling's Superman even though that rumour might not have been true i would have liked to have seen it happen. But seeing Captain Atom could be very cool he was great in The FLashpoint Paradox movie.

"to The Elongated Man to Jay Garrick or maybe even an older Green Lantern"

Not sure Elongated Man's powers are that dangerous as the auction tapes refer to them as...nor do I think green Lantern would need tests run on him if his powers don't stem from anything biological.

Stop! No more Felicity's please. Her character was so terribly written last season, I can't stand it. It literally got to the point where I started skipping every scene with her just to get through Arrow.

Yeah lets bring in what is bringing down Arrow on to the Flash. People really responded to a show about superheroes, lets make this into a relationship drama

@sonofodin25- Remember when Barry started off, he didn't have control of his powers either. And maybe Jay Garrick has just recieved his powers. Just a thought.

Jay Garrick and Patty Spivot?

S2 could even be better than the first!

It's not Hal Jordan. Why would he be talking about getting his powers from the particle accelerator explosion if it was Hal? Also, Elongated Man powers arent dangerous so probably not him. Captain Atom would be pretty dangerous and scary, so maybe? But as others say, too much confusion with the Atom and Firestorm.

Please don't use too much of show's likeThe Flash & Arrow to introduce and develop other characters. I'd rather that be used for the main hero's sidekicks & allies, like Black Canary, Arsenal, Kid Flash Jay Garrick etc... Legends of Tomorrow would be the perfect platform to do this as it is a team up series

I'd love to see Arielle Kebbel as Patty,
She's a CW favourite, who's actually a pretty good actress
