THE WALKING DEAD's Michael Cudlitz Seems To Have Dropped A Pretty Big Season 7 SPOILER
In a new interview, The Walking Dead actor Michael Cudlitz discusses both the comic book and small screen fates of his character, Abraham. Warning: potential SPOILERS for the upcoming seventh season ahead...
While we all impatiently wait to find out who'll meet a grisly demise at the business end of Negan's baseball bat, Lucille, in the season 7 premiere of AMC's The Walking Dead, Michael Cudlitz (Abraham) may have narrowed things down a bit by revealing one character who will be surviving the tense encounter we witnessed in the season 6 finale.
In the comics, Abraham is killed with an arrow through the eye, but that fate was actually given to Denise a couple of episodes before the finale. Because of this, many fans assumed that it'd be Abraham "taking it like a champ" from Negan, but it doesn't look like that's going to be the case.
In an interview with PopSugar, Cudlitz dicusses the ramifications of placing Denise in front of that arrow instead of Abraham, and seems to confirm that the tough-as-nails redhead will walk away from that little gathering with his head intact.
“Her death spurs on a whole bunch of other stuff, and then the audience knows that Abraham will continue for a while now. Now we get to see what a world with Negan and Abraham both in it will be like. That’s something we don’t see in the graphic novels. So a lot of cool stuff happens. For me, knowing that his potential death had come and gone, it was a moment to go, “Oh cool, they really aren’t going to stick with what the graphic novel does.” As a fan of both the novel and the show, it was cool.”
Unless Cudlitz is deliberately trying to throw people off the scent, that seems like pretty definitive evidence that ol' Abraham will live to say "mother dick" another day. What do you guys think?
The Walking Dead returns to AMC in October.
