Epic New THOR: RAGNAROK Set Photos Bring A Huge Chunk Of Asgard To Life Here On Midgard

We've caught a few glimpses of the Asgard set for Thor: Ragnarok on Australia's Gold Coast, but it continues to grow, pointing to Marvel having some massive plans for it in the highly anticipated threequel.

With Thor: Ragnarok set to take the God of Thunder and The Hulk on a trip through the cosmos, you'd think that Marvel would be pouring the movie's budget into huge CGI landscapes. While that still may very well be the case, director Taika Waititi is clearly keen on a practical Asgard which feels more real than previous instalments of the franchise, something evident from these amazing new set photos.

Why has such a large chunk of Asgard been created with practical sets? Time will tell, but it's hard to imagine it being used for just a single scene in the movie. For all we know, this is where Hela marches her army into the realm, and if photos like this surface when shooting actually takes place, it seems we'll know that soon enough. For now, feel free to weigh in with your thoughts and theories below.

Also starring Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, and Karl Urban, Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on November 3rd, 2017.

@Battabing - I'm not surprised since the art director, Dan Hennah, from Lord of the Rings is the production designer for Thor Ragnarok.

Making the main set practical effects with a CGI background always gives me that sense of realism.

looks pretty good. obviously gonna be much better in post. i love how they designed Asgard in MCU so far. but if the HULK gets there in Ragnarok, im guessing the property value and population will drop.
