Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD was directed by Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones") and will be coming to DVD soon. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Rene Russo, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Zachary Levi, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Kat Dennings, Christopher Eccleston, and Idris Elba.

The scenes on Asgard are beautiful but sitting through the entire film was difficult to watch.

@MightyZeus Agreed, both of the Thor films are extremely mediocre in my opinion. But the 2nd Thor film has some cool action scenes other than that just meh

I'm with you on this one SuperCat. It is not what it could have been but it is still ok and in parts, it looks great.
I still think they went the wrong way from the start with Thor, like the timing of the frostgiants on Earth and Odin adopting Loki, and dont explain how the norse could mention Thor and Loki in their myths before they where even born. Cant understand why they didnt connected that invasion with our last ice age, and have a short clip on Thor trying to lead viking warriors but fails (because of Loki doing his thing) and leaves earth, thinking humans are unworthy savages as the vikings start raiding and killing.
This would give a reason to why Odin send him to Earth to teach him a lesson, and also explain how we read about them in books.

And in Dark World, did the dark elves try and destroy the univers every 5.000 year from the beginning of this universe?? Or did they wait about 14 billion years and the battle with Odins father was the first try?

@Floke as much as i like thor movies you make some good points. About your last question though. Once they managed get hold of the aether they attempted to destroy/ recreate the universe in their image but when they did they were confronted by asgards forces.

Ace101. Ok, I thought they used the aether as a weapon even before this universe. Missunderstood. But still Malikith said he almost didnt remeber how the world was before the light, wich means he has been here for billions of years. That is one old dude. :)

Art is beautiful and even Thor2 was OK movie. It was ruined by editing i believe. They messed up Malekith, nobody cared about him and his backround.

Atleast Iron Man 3 was well maid story with good Villain. Killian was established better and played by great actor. Mark42 debut brought new world for Iron Man suits... i'm sure his suit in Age of Ultron is more or less like Mark 42 ;)

Addition: You can see in AOU trailer that Hulkbuster works like Mark 42 too ;)

Malekith had no real powers when he was separated from the aether which sucked because aside from the dark elvish technology, he presented no real threat to Thor or Asgard.
