Ahead of its production start date, Paramount Pictures has announced that Academy Award-winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (Thor: Ragnarok) has signed on for a key role in Transformers: The Last Knight. Further details on his role were unavailable, but it's presumed he'll be portraying a human character and not voicing one of the larger-than-life robots.

Hopkins joins a cast that already features Mark Wahlberg (Patriots Day), Josh Duhamel (11.22.63), Isabela Moner (100 Things To Do Before High School), and Jerrod Carmichael (Neighbors 2: Soroity Rising). Michael Bay (13 Hours: The Secret Service Of Benghazi) is once again in the director's chair. Art Marcum (Iron Man), Matt Holloway (Iron Man), and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) penned the script.

@repulse93 - That's just what I thought.

They got Orson Welles, the first time.

And even though Welles was (by his own admission) just selling out, they still need to respect his legacy by casting somebody of a similar stature.

Hopkins would be a pretty good fit.

But, for my money, if they should cast anyone for Unicron, it should be Mark Hammil.

If you can't get Citizen Kane, then get Luke Skywalker.

Must be desperate for work or he hasn't seen the previous movies.
