Speaking on a conference call, Tom Warner, the Transformers franchise leader for Hasbro clarified that the 2018 Transformers movie is actually a Bumblebee spinoff feature.  Said Warner, "This summer we worked closely with a talented team of A-list screenwriters to map out the future of the Transformers cinematic universe, and as [Hasbro President] Brian [Goldner] announced earlier, things kick off in a major way in 2017 with the release of Transformers 5 in June. And we’re working on a spin-off movie centered around Bumblebee for 2018 and the next chapter for 2019."

As previously reported, the 2018 entry competes against the Godzilla sequel (06/08), Toy Story 4 (06/15) and the Jurassic World sequel (06/22) at the June box office.

@knocturnalzen10 - they ain't stopping it. Last movie made over a billion dollars. Can't stand any of them but i guess a lot of people love them. If they're making a sequel to FF that made no money why would they not do a sequel to a movie that made 1 billion.
