Do you plan on seeing Warcraft in theaters this June? Going by comments around these parts, skepticism is starting to turn into apprehensive optimism. The film certainly has a talented cast and director. The marketing appears to be hitting its stride as well, after a few questionable, early trailers.

The video game adaptation will face competition at the box office from X-Men: Apocalypse (05/27), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (06/03),  The Conjuring 2 (06/10), Central Intelligence (06/17) and Finding Dory (06/17).  The film should perform very well overseas, as a large percentage of the remaining Warcraft fan base is located in China, the U.K. and South Korea.

Warcraft arrives in theaters on June 10, 2016.

The film is a 3D epic adventure of world-colliding conflict based upon Blizzard Entertainment’s globally-renowned universe. Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and written by Charles Leavitt and Duncan Jones, the film is a Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production. The producers are Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Alex Gartner and Stuart Fenegan. Jillian Share, Brent O’Connor, Michael Morhaime and Paul Sams serve as executive producers. Rob Pardo, Chris Metzen, Nick Carpenter and Rebecca Steel Roven co-produce.

I do wonder if this movie will break the video game movie curse, if it does I can see video game movies becoming the next trend.

LeBron James is starring in a Space Jam sequel. Bugs Bunny has to help him get over his crippling depression from living in Cleveland.

I like the fantasy genre, but man..these trailers are leaving me very underwhelmed. I'll admit, I think WoW players are fat dorks, but that has no bearing on my being able to enjoy this film. It just looks very cheesy, the CGI does. I hope I'm wrong...it would be fun to have a great fantasy movie series after the Hobbit messes
