BAD BOYS 3 Pushes Release Date, Leaving WONDER WOMAN Prime Box Office Real Estate

Sony's Bad Boys 3, now officially titled Bad Boys For Life, has moved off of its June 02, 2017 release date, setting up Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman for a potential monstrous weekend box office haul.

After years of speculation, Will Smith confirmed during the press tour for Suicide Squad that he would reteam with Martin Lawrence for a third Bad Boys film.  However, with pre-production not officially underway yet, it would have taken a herculean effort for Bad Boys  3 to meet its original June 02, 2017 release date.

As many expected, yesterday saw Sony adjust its release schedule and move Bad Boys For Life to January 02, 2018.  That currently leaves only Wonder Woman and Captain Underpants as the only two movies releasing that weekend.

The delay of Bad Boys 3 should setup Wonder Woman for another monstrous weekend box office haul for the DCEU.  Such has been the trend for both Batman v Superman ($166M domestic) and Suicide Squad ($133.6M domestic).  The question now is whether Patty Jenkins can deliver a film that draws audiences back on the following weekend.

On June 09, 2017 Wonder Woman's second weekend of release will face stiff competition from Tom Cruise's The MummyWorld War Z is also currently slated to be released on June 09, 2017 but similar to Bad Boys 3, that film has yet to enter production (though Brad Pitt is currently trying to convince David Fincher to direct) as well and will likely be shifted to a later date.

With Wonder Woman essentially having no competition for the weekend of  June 02, 2017 what do you predict will be the opening weekend box office haul for the first solo female superhero movie of the modern blockbuster era?
