Physically, shes perfect for WW. I mean, its not as if WW is any real race anyway, the Amazonians are a mythical race! And I guess she's supposed to have a Greek look..but that wouldn't bother me. What would, is that i don't think shes a strong enough actress to pull it off.

And like Betty, the other stuff disturbs me more! Writers of GI Joke? I thought they had to be shipped back to the Amazon to rejoin their monkey pals. Director of Max Payne? Please tell me this is bullshit!

Either way, her facial features and skin tone betray her lineage to Africa. That is messed up, dude! By your reckoning, Will Smith could be better cast as Supes than Beyonce as WW!
C'mon, I think you response is revealing that you really don't care for the character or the comic. I suppose I'm a little worked up on your response because I typically respect your judgements in these areas.

I'm not as worried about beyonce as I am about the writers, I mean come on G.I. Joe!? I've never seen her act but wonder woman is one role where I don't think race is that important, sure she was white in the comics but she's a member of a mythical race so it wouldn't be terrible to retcon her a bit. Wonder Woman was always just a pretty superman so it doesn't matter if she's black and beautiful or white and beautiful. I've never seen her act, but there have been plenty of surprise hits so if her casting pans out to be true you won't hear me complain.

I like Beyonce and all but she is the wrong choice for Wonder Woman, this is not for her.

Phinehas, I think the sentiment about beyonce is mostly due to how bad the writers are, she is literally the least troubling thing attached to this picture.
If she acted well you could ignore the fact that it was a different take on WW but with bad writing all you can do is hope for a decent reboot in 5-10 years.

She's a big fan of the character. But this seems like bad idea on all levels.

Folks...time for some education,

The Greeks learn pretty much learned and mimiced EVERYTHING from African culture...Ethiopian, Egyptian, etc. (Homer even wrote that Zeus and all the gods would go to Ethiopia to fellowship, learn and party).

Nonetheless, Wonder Woman has always been protrayed and illustrated as an ethnic woman (dark hair, curly hair, full lips, full figured, etc.) Lynda Carter is actually hispanic and she made a great WW on TV. I think its time to be open to different concepts and imaginings of our iconic heros and heroines.

So, while Beyonce is beautiful and would be a great look for WW (bad acting aside), I personally think the absolute best option to play WW is... SERENA WILLIAMS!

Just look at her physicality and athletic ability. Is she not built like a "mythical" Amazon would be? She could lean out, and imagine fight scenes with her on screen against robots, or Ares?... And yes, I'd probably have her rock some dreds in the movie, not straightened or curly hair. Probably would have her rock a futuristic version of the classic JLA skirted uniform for the movie and then transition into a full bodysuit of light armor.

That would be tight son!...

That's precisely what is upsetting me about everyone's flippant attitude. If it were Superman, more people would be up in arms about it. I know that people are duplicitous when it comes to race. Otherwise, there is little reason to not change everyone to look like Fat Albert and the Junkyard gang! Why go after such a beloved character for multicultural/PC sensibilities?
