In the last couple weeks we have heard tons of rumors that WB is finally working on the new Superman reboot, Batman 3, and may be moving forward with The Flash. Along with The Green Lantern which is already getting ready to film soon, it looks like the DC film universe is finally coming together.
Christopher Nolan will return to helm Batman 3, which is being written by David S. Goyer and Jonah Nolan. Also, the rumors of Christopher Nolan mentoring the Superman reboot is actually said to be because his little brother Jonah Nolan may be making his directorial debut with the film and David S. Goyer has already been said to write the movie. Basically, the "Batman" team will be behind bringing "Superman" to the screen. Good or bad? Who knows!
Martin Campbell will be directing "The Green Lantern" which will be released in 2011, and Greg Berlanti, who is producing "The Green Lantern", is said to be in line to direct "The Flash". Then after these films all finally make it to the big screen, we may see the "Justice League" directed by Christopher Nolan. Amazing? Hell yeah!
What I like about this news is, it seems to be a true team effort going on here in culminating the DC universe films together. There seems to be at least one person from each film coming in to help out with another film, for instance, "The Dark Knight" team will help bring the "Superman" film to the silver screen and Greg Berlanti will be producing "The Green Lantern" and (supposively) will be directing "The Flash". It seems like a complete 360!
Not to diss Marvel, but all of the post-Avengers films really dont feel like a team effort. I mean, we often hear about Kenneth Branagh meeting with Jon Favreau and then Jon Favreau meeting with Louis Letterier, but we reallly dont know the what the degree of these meetings are. It sounds more like hanging out rather then business. Like I said, im not dissing Marvel. I just like the idea of bringing in someone from one film to another.
Now this brings me to my question: Who should direct Wonder Woman? It was a shock that we got no indication that a Wonder Woman film was even moving forward, which is not good considering Wonder Woman is definantly the third best known Justice League member after Superman and Batman.
Should it be someone that has been involved with one of these films, or should it be someone out of left field? I personally think some pretty good directors to bring Wonder Woman to to big screen could be Chris Columbus and Kathryn Bigelow. I dont know if I can really see WB picking one of them, but I can hope right?
If this proves succesful, it seems "The Justice League" may star the likes of Christian Bale and Ryan Reynolds thus far.
