New X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Stills Tease Romance, The Skrulls, And A Major Character Death

News of the merger between Disney and Fox has led to a lot of speculation that X-Men: Dark Phoenix could be scrapped. However, as the deal will take 12 - 18 months to finalise, it's currently business as usual at Fox and that means this Marvel Comics adaptation is happening (whether you like it or not).

Now, thanks to Empire Magazine, a new batch of images have surfaced which provide an amazing look at Sophie Turner as the Phoenix as well as great shots of Scott Summers and Jean Grey, Jessica Chastain's Skrull villain confronting a downed Charles Xavier, and even the possible death of a franchise favourite (that could be the big twist director Simon Kinberg has mentioned in recent interviews).

An awesome new shot of Sophie Turner as the Phoenix, it's now become apparent that this version of the character will seemingly look like this throughout as opposed to having a physical costume!

The romance between Cyclops and Jean Grey is one of the most beloved in comic book history and this image makes it clear that things will be heating up with these members of the X-Men.

Oh dear, things are looking bleak for Magneto here! We know that a lot of the cast is interested in moving on from the franchise and killing this fan-favourite would definitely shake things up.

Charles Xavier looks terrified here as he comes face to face with the mysterious villain being played by Jessica Chastain. It was recently confirmed that she's a shapeshifting alien (so, a Skrull).

I'm actually curious to see what kinda director he is, even a teaser trailer could tell a lot.

But mostly worried, yeah, wish they could end things with a bang, but...heh.

@Kevwebsz
lol i agree, i know many don't want to see a Gambit movie, but hey if it's a good movie, and people enjoy it as much as DP, why not? :P
But there's also that X-Force movie by Goddard, and...i want to see it happened...at Fox, as soon as possible, if THAT ends up being the last Fox-verse movie, than i'm more than ok.
