Sir Patrick Stewart Talks X-MEN: DOFP; Says Xavier's Resurrection Will Be Addressed

Stewart talked at some length about the upcoming X-flick with fans at ComicPalooza. Among other things, he says he thinks the movie is going to be the "blockbuster of 2014", and that his appearnce in the film after his character's death at the hands of Jean Grey will be explained

Stewart says he's finished shooting his scenes for the movie now, and although he can't reveal any plot details, he does feel that X-Men: Days Of Future Past is "going to be the X-Men of all X-Men pictures. One doesn't want to tempt fate, but perhaps also the blockbuster of 2014." After mentioning how great it is to be reunited with the rest of his cast-mates, he brings up something many fans have been wondering: How is Charlie Xavier back after being vaporized by Jean in X-Men 3? Obviously he doesn't explain how here (although ha fan shouts out his theory and Stewart acknowledges it) but he does reveal that we will get an explanation. Here's the full video.

“It’s interesting, its possibly 6 or 7 years since X-Men 3 when you recall Charles Xavier was vaporized by… what’s her name, Jean Grey. And you are asking yourself, ‘Well if you were vaporized, how can you be in the next X-Men movie?’ Anybody got any ideas how that came about? There will be an explanation, but it was a little puzzling to me cause I thought my X-Men days were over, but not so. So something to look forward to, cause there’s not much to look forward to these days really.”

Him being cast as Professor X is one of the VERY only FEW things that Fox did right with the franchise.

Xavier's consciousness was transferred into another man's body...so how does that explain his actual Patrick Stewart shaped form being back! Plus I seriously doubt they'll even keep that silly after credit's scene as canon anyway.

The coma guy that he transferred into was Xavier's twin whose brain didn't develop in the womb because of Xavier's mutant telepathy or some old shit along those lines

Transformers and Amazing Spiderman 2 may be the highest grossing movies of 2014, but Days of future past will be top 5 easily.

We'll find it out next year

Didn't they explain it already by having Xavier transfer his mind into that body in the post credit scene? Are they gonna ignore that and act like that didn't happen? That would be kinda silly!! They should just use that and go from there. Unless they wanna confuse everyone who saw that part. Maybe something in the past in this movie will stop that from happening in the future? I just hope it makes sense!!!

The fact that the original cast seems to be done with their filming and the newer cast has just started filming gives credence to the idea that Stewart and co. will not be sharing the screen with their 70's counterparts.

I'm just hoping the story doesn't involve the future cast waiting around for the time line to change. I've never liked time travel stories written as if the past and future events are happening simultaneously from the character's perspective. For story purposes it makes sense cause you have to tell the story somehow. But when the future characters experience the same amount of time passage as the characters that went back (and are aware of it)it just seems wrong. Like seeing Ian McKellan go, "well it's been 12 days, I hope everything is going well." To me that sort of writing shows a limited understanding of sci fi (cause let's face it, time travel isn't real). But I wouldn't be surprised to see Singer do something like that. I dunnow. I guess this is my fanboy rant. I don't care about costumes and origins being butchered. I just like a movie to make sense within it's own universe as it were. I feel that way about all movies.
