Early X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Concept Art Imagines Elle Fanning In The Role Of Jean Grey
An early design for Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse highlights a very different costume for the character, and seems to confirm that Neon Demon actress Elle Fanning may have been in line for the role...
Before Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner landed the highly coveted role of the young Jean Grey in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, there were rumors that the likes of Chloe Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld and Elle Fanning were also in the running, and this early concept art from Alan Villanueva (via twitter user Greg Hopwood) seems to confirm that Fanning, at least, was being considered.
As you can see, Jean's costume was also going to be much more faithful to Jim Lee's depiction of the ultra-powerful mutant in Chris Claremont's 1991 X-Men series.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be available on DVD and Blu-ray from October 4.
