Empire Magazine spoke with screenwriter Simon Kinberg on the X-Men and Fantastic Four. And he says Fox is interested in crossing the franchise over.

"It's something we are interested in creating. If its possible for the movies to inform each other in ways that make the experience of each film more satisfying"

Wow! Sounds Great!

I would love to see Reed Richards challenge Charles Xavier and the X-men have to attack Dr Doom in Latveria and fight Doom Bots! Or the Thing fight Colosus or Johnny fight Iceman and Sue Storm vs Jean grey!

The Possibilities are endless!

Sound off in the comments section. Let me know what you think!

Stay Golden Guys.

Kinberg is a wannabe Whedon/Goyer.

Also, what the heck happened to Millar's position? Did Kinberg just take it from him?

If they have just a ounce of what makes their take on the X-men so great in film than this is going to be a smash hit. Can't wait.

Make a decent FF movie first before considering a crossover.

They want that Avengers money. I guess if this does happen, they it could be based on the X-Men/F4 limited series.

SN: Is Millar still FOX Marvel movie consultant or nah?lol

They didn't even start gearing up for the FF reboot until July 2012 so yeah, they want some of that Avengers money.

The X-Men movies are a mid-tier franchise at best. They have the potential to be much more popular but Fox has done a terrible job in managing the series.

FF would be back at Marvel if Avengers came out this year.

That 4-issue X-Men/FF miniseries from 2004 was mind-bogglingly bad; utterly wretched in every possible way. They'll probably adapt that.

How can some of you guys be so miserable? lol Sheesh!

I'd be down for it if the story is compelling enough. I've never really read any big story arcs where the x-men and fantastic four join forces. If so it's always in the mix of all the Avengers conflicts.

Fox already has

-Fantastic Four Reboot
-X-Men: Apocalypse
-X-Force
-The Wolverine: Untitled Sequel
-(possible) Deadpool Movie
-(possible) Gambit Movie

In the works/talks I'm sure a crossover event would bring more life to the studio. It's just finding the right build up or reasoning for them to collide forces.

I have nothing but faith in the FF movie. Honestly, as far as upcoming CBM directors that have yet to tackle a Marvel or Dc film, he's without a doubt more talented then most his peers.

Wright (Ant-Man) > Trank (FF) > Kurtzman (Venom) > Wadlow (X-force) > Gunn (GotG) > Russo's (CA:TWS)

And nothing confirmed of course, but I'm pretty sure if Bats vs Supes is successful then Affleck will direct a Batman reboot. If that's the case then i'll take him over Wright.

Worst I can assume for this reboot at the moment is Fox setting it in the 70's where they can (only) tie it in with the First Class cast aka Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender... Logical move on their part.

Jackman will probably be there too if Wolvie's consciousness is going to be stuck in the past after DOFP.

@TheBlackNerd that reminds me... Fox's rights:

X-Men
X-Force
X-Everything else
Fantastic Four
Alpha Flight
Wolverine
Deadpool
Silver Surfer

- THAT is the type of list that's (unbelievably but logically) able for a shared universe unlike Sony and the things they're trying to cook up.

Id actually love to see a period-set FF, it worked incredibly well for First Class and there is a lot they can use to tie it into real world events of the 60s/70s. Given the timeline of the older X-Men group, it might be difficult to have a crossover when they are living in a dystopian future - unless time travel would fix that completely.

Most likely cross paths with the bastardization version of the X-men in First Class. Then again the entire franchise has been mis characterized.
Jolllem
Jolllem - 2/28/2014, 9:12 PM
Both franchises have no memorable encounters as the FF partake more with the Avengers, than throw away one-shot filler stories with the X-men

Statement: "If its possible for the movies to inform each other in ways that make the experience of each film more satisfying."

Translation: "F4 is likely going to be a critical bomb; we'll probably have to inject the X-Men in a future sequel in order to maintain an audience for it."

ChanceX74 Never truer words spoken pal. ;P

Still hoping they don't start development so that the rights will revert.

And people who say, "Oh but this way we'll get more CBMs." Well, actually no. Because most people dislike these franchises (I've heard even a lot of non comic geeks be like the X-men movies just aren't very good etc.) so thus people start disliking the character because of the way they are portrayed on screen. Thus it will make it difficult to sell that character ever again or CBM's in general since a lot of people have the wrong idea of them from other movies.

So yeah. More isn't always better.

Just give up. You don't have the testicular fortitude to make it happen. This "wait and see" business is a clear demonstration of that. You can't even clear up the clusterfrak that is your casting and even that you can't even confirm. It's pathetic. Admit your inferiority and sell the rights back to Marvel.
TucksFrom2015
TucksFrom2015 - 2/28/2014, 11:53 PM
X-Force and FF could definitely crossover, considering the time travel element of both teams, while X-Men is stuck in the 70's, Jeff Wadlow's and Josh Trank's teams are contemporaries of one another. I think the idea of XM/F4 originates with the fact that people don't think FF could just be it's own thing... and have sequels. It is great a franchise, but after that (still unconfirmed) casting announcement even I'm starting to doubt that it could work for very long.
