'Captain Marvel' Confirmed To Appear In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR
It seems like the rooms in Avengers tower will be all booked up during Avengers: Infinity War. While speaking about the upcoming films, the Russo brothers let it slip that Captain Marvel will be joining the big fight.
Avengers: Infinity War will be a film chock full of characters both good and bad, but the question is, who was invited to the big party? While speaking about their upcoming two-part film Avengers: Infinity War at the Smithsonian Institute, the Russo brothers let it slip that Captain Marvel will be joining the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the fight against the Mad Titan.
Just as the Russo brothers accidentally name-dropped Captain Marvel, a fan quickly took the opportunity to ask the directors, "Did you just confirm Captain Marvel?" The directors then replied the best way they could. "Um....Captain Barvel. Totally different character." Who is this Captain Barvel, and why are they joining they joining Avengers: Infinity War? Either way, we'll be seeing Captain Marvel (or Barvel) as she makes her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2019. What do you think about Captain Marvel joining the Avengers for Infinity War?
The Avengers have mainly had to deal with threats closer to home throughout the short time they've been together, but all that is going to change when they find themselves dealing with the Mad Titan. During an interview with Collider, the Russo brothers spoke about Earth's Mightiest Heroes possibly going off-world, and maybe even out of their universe when dealing with Thanos in Avenger: Infinity War.
"We still have rules where we want everything to be based in physics in some way, or departing from our universe, or going to somewhere fantastical that the rules are very clear to the audience about how physics operates in that space," explained director Joe Russo. "So we’re using a lot of real world influences for our cosmic approach and while you can’t bring a level of 'realism' because a lot of things that you’re dealing with in that space are theoretical, what you can do is bring a psychological realism to it and the characters can have a psychology that is relatable in a human storytelling level."
As Thanos tears his way through the Marvel Universe to collect the Infinity Stones, he power increases exponentially. So, how will the Avengers be able to stand a chance? Well, when asked about whether we would see Scarlet Witch unleashing her true power on Thanos, director Joe Russo replied, "I don’t think we’ve seen her scratch the surface yet of her power, she’s an extremely powerful character, and I think she’s a very important character moving forward. Let’s just say that." He then went on to talk about how the Vision has been holding back the entire time. "Vision is another character who I don’t think has realized his power yet. It’s tricky in Civil War because he’s a very logical character and I think his thought process is being complicate by something he didn’t expect that he could access which is emption. And I think his feelings for a certain character in that film complicate his powers as well, and I think frankly he willingly takes a back seat in some events in the movie because he’s so powerful that there’s not –If he’s gonna blast somebody with his mind ray he’d kill them, so I think when he faces a true threat I think you’ll see what he can do." Are you excited to see the Vision and Scarlet Witch taking on Thanos?
Avengers: Infinity War will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, and is being written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Part One hits theaters May 4th, 2018, and Part Two May 3rd, 2019.
