Stephen Amell Says DCEU Deathstroke Doesn't Nix A Potential Manu Bennett Return To ARROW

Last week, Ben Affleck set social media afire with a teaser video seemingly confirming Slade Wilson for the DCEU. Stephen Amell was recently asked if that means no Deathstroke for the DCTV universe.

At Salt Lake Comic -Con, Arrow star Stephen Amell was asked by a fan whether Ben Affleck's reveal that Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke was seemingly set to appear in Justice League/Batman results in Manu Bennett no longer able to reprise the same role on Arrow.  Amell responded,  "That's actually something that people bring up on a regular basis…that DC has told us you can’t have or you must get rid of [this character]. That’s not how that works. Diane Nelson and Geoff Johns – the people at Warner Bros. on the feature side, the people at Warner Bros. on the television side – are all in the business of making the best products for fans. Just because there may or may not be a Deathstroke in the DC Extended Universe doesn’t mean Manu Bennett can’t exist on our show."

However, it's been previously stated by other Arrow cast and crew that Warner Bros.', plans for Suicide Squad forced the show to kill off their versions of Amanda Waller and Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot  and drastically change their plans for season 4, which would've had a subplot focusing on Diggle, A.R.G.U.S. and Task Force X.  With that in mind, is it really possible for Manu Bennett to return to Arrorw?  Then again, the DCEU and DCTV universe currently have their own respective Superman and Flash so it's really anyone's guess as to how WB is deciding to divide up its DC Comics characters between film and TV.

Arrow season 5 premieres on The CW at 8/7c on October 5.

@ComicsBornAndBred - the real question is, is that teaser full cgi? or practical.

i say it's 100% cgi, hence why i think it might be a video game. but i feel like if it were a video game, something would've been said by now. idk i'll just have to wait and see.

Manu Bennet seemed pretty unhappy about how the character was treated. Idk if he's gonna return.

While some might be looking forward to Deathstroke coming back at some point in a more recurring capacity, it looks like that might not be in the cards anymore, primarily because of Bennett not being pleased with how his character was treated.

During an interview with TheMusic.com.au, Bennett expressed his unhappiness with how the writers handled Deathstroke during Season 2 and his sole Season 3 appearance. According to Bennett:

"I think Deathstroke had a lot of possibilities with Arrow but, I think they took it in the wrong direction."

"It took the Justice League to defeat him; it took an army to take him on. In Arrow, it took a while for Oliver [Queen/Arrow] to prove his point, but [season three] was just a beating of Slade, adding insult to injury."
