I strongly advise that everyone reads Fury's Big Week. It fills in a lot of tiny gaps that I wondered about. Like what happened to Samuel Sterns, Abomination, etc.

The TPB collects all the "canon" comics prior to the Avengers ones:

- I Am Iron Man 1-2 (movie adaptation)
- Iron Man 2 : Public Identity 1-3 (originally solicited as Iron Man 1.5)
- Iron Man : Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. 1, Phil Coulson, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. 1, Black Widow, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. 1)
- Captain America : First Vengeance 1-8 (or 1-4 in the printed version)

That leaves:
- Marvel's The Avengers Prelude: Fury's Big Week 1-8 (or 1-4 in the printed version)
- Marvel's The Avengers: Black Widow Strikes 1-3 (upcoming)

If I am not mistaken, the "Security Measures" comic is not included as it was deemed as "inspired by the MCU, but not canon". It is not listed in the current description of the TPB at Marvel.com. Same deal with the recent Captain America/Thor Avengers one-shot, inspired by the movies but not canon. Will Corona & Ryan Penagos from Marvel clarified all this on Twitter recently.
