When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes — a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee — who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman. The film is set to hit theaters July 12th.

This has BOMB all over it. They need a huge push these next 12 days.
I think MOS may have satisfied the domestic audience with all the destruction they want on film for an entire year and will mostly stay away.
Not to add that it looks pretty bad. Folk may apt for Atlantic Rim :)
They better hope Asia really want this, that's the place where I can see folk eating this up

maybe you're right but I'm smart enough to write can't properly.

Oh and maybe I can't see the future but I can gauge the people I know about their feelings for this. I can see how mediocre it looks. I can see GDT's track record. I can see that no thread on this site for this film has broken 100 comments and most not even 50. So just call it intuition.

I can't get past the woeful ''Canceling dur apocalypse'' line so I'm going to wait for the Bluray unless it get stellar 5 star review and promises of Oscar glory akin to Lord of the Rings.

what a bunch of party poopers.

"it's projected to have a 30 M. opening". f*ck that, Transformers movies are critically panned and dumb as a brick yet they still break records everytime one premiers, so I don't see why this couldn't have at least a decent performance at the B.O.

it's projected to bomb therefore it sucks. AMIRIGHTGUYZ!?!?! That's what people on this site think... then again, we all know the intelligence level on here is generally lacking.

The sad thing is, if it does bomb, it only hurts future sci-fi movies. Hollywood will say "why make a robot movie, or a space opera, when we could just make more X-Men?" (or reboot Spider-Man a third time, or reboot Batman a third time, or reboot Twilight like they're seriously considering, or make more Star Wars etc)

If everyone goes out and supports this, gives it a good opening, then maybe we can get more sci-fi movies. Sci-fi has been pretty dead in the 2000s other than maybe a couple TV shows like BG or Doctor Who, but maybe that can change if people see stuff like this

Yeah right. If that were true
Pirates of the Caribbean would never have been made after Cutthroat Island
No more superheroes after Batman and Robin, Catwoman, Elektra, Ghost Rider, Green Lantern etc etc
No more sci/fi after Battleship, John Carter and a hundred others
No more post apocalyptic movies after Postman, Waterworld, The Road etc etc

Let's drop this fallacy that all films need to succeed in order to get others. Hollywood would have ceased to exist if that were true

the Transformers crowd will eat this up like candy. I have high faith in this movie that it will perform well. Plus its going against an Adam Sandler movie. So yeah
