Does Marvel Toy Fair Recap Video Reveal The Identity Of The Myserious Alien Invaders In THE AVENGERS?

During an interview in a newly released episode of Marvel's web series "The Watcher", a host of the 2012 Toy Fair might have accidentally revealed to us the identity of the secret alien army that Marvel have been keeping tightly under wraps for months.

Skip to 3:50 in the video to hear it yourselves:

According to the man, the name of Loki's alien race are the Ord. This may or may not have been a mistake by the person being interviewed here, but after looking into some background it is too much of a coincidence. The Ord were created by Joss Whedon during his Astonishing X-Men run.

Here is some information on them from Marvel's Wiki:

Ord hailed from the Breakworld, a planet home to a warrior culture whose technology allowed them to see partial versions of the future. These "timeshadows" foretold that their planet would be destroyed by a mutant from Earth, most likely a member of the heroic X-Men team. For decades, Ord fought and won in many arena-style battles for the honor of being chosen to travel to Earth with a declaration of war. However, the spy agency S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient Worlds Observation and Response Department), a sub-division of S.H.I.E.L.D. that handles extraterrestrial matters, was able to settle diplomatically with him by offering him a chance to eradicate the mutant gene, while they would seek to identify the mutant that would be responsible for the Breakworld's destruction.

Powers

Ord possesses strength much greater than that of a human and is also capable of flight. It is unclear whether these attributes are shared by all members of his race, or if they are the product of alien technology.

Abilities

Ord is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant, having decades of fighting experience.

Equipment

Ord wears a suit of body armor. He also wields a circular weapon with barbed blades that he claims can cut through any substance on Earth.

Transportation

Breakworld Spacecraft.

Weapons

Common Breakworld Weapons.

So what do you guys make of this? Could the Ord be the secret alien army that Loki unleashes on Earth?

It sounded like he could of said "horde", but it didn't look like he had any intention of pronouncing the "H" sound based on his lip movements.

He said "horde" but thanks for playing, Johnny show him what consolation prizes he's won......................
Well Bodwulf here is an old story from the 1980's for Gaston:
Lisa Lyon is Electra, Frank miller used Lisa Lyons as a template for Elektra

Funny how he says 'alien horde' yet someone misinterpreting what he said has caused us to speculate on a race we all didn't even think of til now haha

It's not a new theory though (some of you). There was speculation about Ord/breakworld quite some time ago. I'd never heard of them until then

Horde. Sorry, but that doesn't mean the habitants of Breakworld won't be the villains. Loki could convince them that Hulk is the World Breaker.

IwasGroot - 2/27/2012, 5:15 PM
Yeah I was just coming here to say that lol He DEFINITELY emphasizes the "H" in Horde! If the poster had listened more closely he would have noticed instead of reading way to much into everything as people on this site tend to do!! People hear what they wanna hear I guess! When he said Quin-Jet I heard ass and titties so...

the guy is a professional, his lines are partially learned and delivered well,he knows his game,no making mistakes wi this guy.
he and all employees involved will be under orders and its probably just another day at work for them

After listening for the fifteenth time,I have managed to change it from alien ord into alien horde..
and its a bit of a relief!

I heard "Alien Whore". How could any guy fight a three-boobed, green, extra-terrestrial prostitute?

Lord Loki has spoken

@Ncreb...An alien horde character! Meaning it's ONE of the alien horde, not meaning it's a singular character, but a character that's part of a greater span of characters! Remember buying Ninja Turtles toys back in the day? You needed about 100 foot soldiers to make the foot clan, but each one was the exact same generically modeled toy! Same concept

Hey, anything is possible in fairness.. Ord IS from Breakworld, those guys were rumored. And he is a Whedon creation as was pointed out. I'm just sure he said Horde in the vid is all

I watched this video probably about 80 times earlier today looking for such a slip up, either visual or audible and I'm convinced the guy said "horde". I'm sure that both the camera crew and the promoters at the booths had it etched into their brains with acid not to let the true identity of the alien race slip.

ecksmanfan - 2/27/2012, 5:28 PM
I heard Ord myself, but who knows. I can't for the life of me figure out why they are being so secretive. Feige said the race of the aliens is not significant, so why the hell are they being so secretive?

Maybe the new trailer will give us more info!

I believe he said horde but two factors in play

1) Joss Wheadon created the character- Plus script was written on the go so need something with familiarity

2) The piece they have around their nose, is apparent in Avengers trailer

The Skrulls actually consider themselves a horde but the Lego pics lead me to believe Kree or Deviants* which Deviants seem to make sense based on strong rumors.
