Gaston's THE AVENGERS In-Depth Review

SPOILER ALERT! I am going in-depth with my review and will spare no details, so be warned. I am going to discuss everything from the plot to the mid-credits scene. If you have not seen this movie, I STRONGLY suggest you stay away from this article. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Review Opinion

Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending a special fan screening of The Avengers here in Los Angeles. I don't need to tell you that the room was packed to the brim, but what I must say is that you could literally feel the electricity in the air that was being generated by the excitement of the crowd. Never have I experienced something like that before. But no matter how excited we all were, nothing could have prepared us for what we were about to witness. Most of you are aware that the word "Epic" gets tossed around in every single article that has to do with this movie, right? Well let me tell you that "Epic" doesn't even begin to cut it. Think I'm exaggerating? Just ask any of our other fine members who have seen the movie as well. In this review, I will cover every aspect of this film that I can recall. I will try to include as much details as possible, so be warned. This review is going to get VERY spoilery. THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING TO EXIT THIS ARTICLE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE!!!

!!!Spoilers removed until embargo ends!!!

The Avengers was probably the most fun I've ever had watching a movie. It surpassed all expectations and left me extremely eager to see where the MCU goes from here. No fanboys will be disappointed by this film, believe me. It was virtually flawless and everything, from the dialogue to the CGI, was perfect. I have no complaints (except for the 3D, which was just as useless and unnecessary as it has been with past post-conversions. If you can avoid seeing it in this format then I recommend you do) and I will be there on May 4th to see it again.

As an action/adventure film, I give The Avengers a solid 9.5 out of 10. It had everything you can hope for in a comic book movie and more.

The Avengers hits theaters May 4th, 2012!

Amazing Gaston , glad Hawkeye is still left as the lone wolf, very cool, hope Renner won't be too busy to return, though Marvel learned their lesson with Norton and Howard, they make 'em sign on for more than one now. I am pumped!!!!! And Widow has an accent!? Sweet, it wasn't thick was it, more like a lisp, right? Was Thanos heavily CGI'd? Ugh, I'm so excited! I'm glad they expanded the MCU, if only they had rights to Galactus and Silver Surfer. But hey, we are one step closer to this!

It's also nice to see that those who have seen it say the characters are all more witty and fun because of Whedon, I love this film already!!! I want a sequel now!!!

Nice review, Gaston. Just enough detail to whet our appetites without giving up the entire movie. It sounds like Whedon has succeeded in including a lot of detail, character development along with the action sequeneces we all want. Hats off to Marvel for applying the "serialisation" method to the release of all of these movies. They are really succeeding in creating a universe and keeping the audience enthralled. We get this released on 25 April here Down Under, so hanging out for next week.

This movie is going to be insane. Can't wait until May 4th (my birthday)!

Also, it's obvious the cuts that were shown at the premiere and this weekend were not the final cuts (seeing as they filmed a scene after the premiere).

Alot of us have heard the rumors of what that scene was, and if it's true...*takes of sunglasses* Mother of god. :)

Introducing Thanos is an incredibly ballsy move on Marvel's part, thaing such an unknown character (at least to the general public), and someone who is such a galactic presence in the Marvel U, shows that they are definitely willing to build a REAL cinematic universe. If only WB/DC would be willing to take chances like that, I mean realistic characters in Batman (more or less) makes sense, but Superman always falls to either Lex Luthor or Zod...instead of using someone like Darkseid or Doomsday for that matter...DC really needs to break out of that mold.

@ brazilianbatman,

Does it really matters? Or do you really think that those little details ruin the movie somehow?

so we have something to compare it to...
how would you rate the following films?
Iron Man
Batman Begins
Captain America: TFA
The Dark Knight
thanks :)

This is just my opinion but I would rate it from that list.

The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
The Avengers
Iron Man

Captain America (sorry I wasn't the biggest fan of that movie).

But The Avengers is really, really good, and Marvel fans will be proud of it. Definitely comparable in terms of production to The Dark Knight. I think the Dark Knight is better in terms of overall story, but The Avengers is much better when it comes to action and scope.

So Coulson dies? I thought Whedon said he'd survive and return in IM3?

The Avengers is definitely in the top 5 best comic book movies ever list. For me it's a toss up at number three with X2, and just above Hellboy 2 and Spider-man 2. The only thing about the Avengers is the story is a little predictable, but it's not a glaring weakness. The last 45 minutes though will just leave you speechless.
