In case you're confused, this clip is showcasing Agent Coulson and Agent Sitwell discussing how to approach General Thunderbolt Ross, from The Incredible Hulk, and how they are going to make him decline an offer to join the team. This scene leads to The Incredible Hulk's after credit sequence where Tony Stark approaches General Ross.

According to Marvel One-Shot Co-Producer Brad Winderbaum:
“Making shorts is something we’ve been talking about for some time,” recalls “Marvel One-Shot” Co-Producer Brad Winderbaum. “It’s a fun way to experiment with new characters and ideas, but more importantly it’s a way for us to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe and tell stories that live outside the plot of our features.”

“They were directed by the great Leythum, whose initial pitch was very inspiring and immediately made us confident in his vision,” reveals Winderbaum. “They were produced by the Ebeling Group who collected an incredibly talented crew of people to pull these off, including Director of Photography David Myrick and Production Designer David Courtemarche. We were also fortunate to have the films scored by the world renowned DJ Paul Oakenfold. And both shorts were written by the awesome Eric Pearson, who did a great job capturing the wit and humor we enjoy from Coulson in the features.”

“First and foremost it was an opportunity to work with Clark Gregg,” exudes Winderbaum. “The guy elevates everything he takes part in and we knew that if he was into it, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tell some stand-alone Coulson stories with him. Also, in the case of ‘The Consultant,’ we wanted to paint a picture of S.H.I.E.L.D. pulling the strings and being responsible for some of the events we’ve seen in the films. What better character to represent this idea than Agent Coulson, the first S.H.I.E.L.D. agent we were introduced to in the first Iron Man film.”

The Avengers is an upcoming American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. It was announced in April 2005 and is based upon the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. The film is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that crosses over several Marvel superhero films including Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans. The Avengers is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2012, in 3D. Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America to fight an enemy threatening the world with destruction.

I have to admit that it's a good way to get them out of including Gen. Ross in The Avengers...

After Stark approached Gen. Ross in TIH I assumed, at the time, this would guarantee his inclusion but obviously this late addition says otherwise.

Im not having a pop at all...I'm just speculating

The Consultant is definitely Iron Man which means this takes place before The Incredible Hulk movie and after Iron Man 2

for intruder. RDJ is a really cool dude, I wouldn't put it past him in showing up in one of the shorts. He doesn't have a problem making small cameo's or makeing fun of him self. Just because he is a star, doesn't mean he has a big head and a internet short is "Below" him.

They most likely won't show Stark, but that is who they are talking about. At least that's who they want us to believe they are talking about.

@ Intruder
I see you're point, but for me it explains why Ross won't be in The Avengers . . . because Stark annoyed the crap out of him. Remember, they said they'd also use the clips to tie in the movies.

And I don't know why no one else is bringing this up, but I'm glad they haven't totally forgotten about the Abomination. After that Blonsky reference it made me wonder if he'll make an appearance in The Avengers.

AC1 - 8/2/2011, 1:20 PM
@Intruder if they do include him (he did cameo in TIH after all) it'll be a comedic glimpse where he'll just walk in at the end of it or something. Easily filmable between Avengers filming

I could be wrong, but were Coulson and Sitwell talking about sabotaging Ross' release of Blonsky? Does this mean that Fury originally wanted Blonsky to join The Avengers?

Was it Iron Man 1 or 2 when Nick Fury told Stark that his not the right member for the team but Iron Man is?
