Bollywood Voice-Over Targets For THE AVENGERS Further Confirm A Pepper Potts Appearance

Reports on Indian voice-over talents for The AVENGERS seemingly confirm that Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) will make an appearance in the movie.

This bit of news is for the CBMers who live in India who make up approximately 29% of the CBM community. In case you missed our user survey that was conducted back in September, here are the results. As for the topic in question, being American, I honestly have no idea who these actors are but maybe our Indian CBMers will recognize the names of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone? These two are reportedly being targeted to provide voice-overs for Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man) and Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), respectively. The Hindustan Times states that the two Hindu actors are a real-life couple and would do justice to the Tony Stark/Pepper Potts banter that is a staple of the Iron Man film franchise.

Of course, what's interesting for everyone else is the fact that this is another strong indication that Gwyneth Paltrow will indeed appear in the film. There were earlier reports that she "quietly" flew in and flew-out of the New Mexico Avengers set this past summer but Marvel has not made an official announcement concerning her involvement with the project.

The Avengers hits the big screen in India a week before it opens in the US (May 4).

The Avengers is an upcoming American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures1, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is the sixth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which crosses over several Marvel superhero films including Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and features an ensemble cast, which includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson. In The Avengers, Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America to save the world from destruction.

Development of The Avengers began when Marvel Studios received a grant from Merrill Lynch in April 2005. After the success of the film Iron Man in May 2008, Marvel announced that The Avengers would be released in July 2011. With the signing of Scarlett Johansson in March 2009, the film was pushed back for a 2012 release. Whedon was brought on board in April 2010 and rewrote the screenplay that was originally written by Zak Penn. Production began in April 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before moving to Cleveland, Ohio and New York City. The film entered post-production at the conclusion of filming in September 2011.

The Avengers is scheduled for release on May 4, 2012 in the United States.

Interesting. It makes sense if she really makes an appearance even if just in the form of a phone call in Tony's helmet or something.

glad to see more connection between the films, just hope she doesn't have a major role.

will Betty Ross be in it too?

Short appearance, certainly.

And it's cool that she appears. Jane Foster would be nice too, since she was looking for a way to contact Thor and she is involved with Shield now.

Well that Erik selvig guy from Thor makes a brief appearance in The Avengers so Jane might show up too, not that I'd care if she does or doesn't.

kevberg - I don't think he changes armors cause one gets destroyed, most likely he will cease using the triangular arc reactor that's in his chest, and for some reason it will be circular again.

Cool! I find it interesting that info from the foreign language dubs don't spoil stuff like this more often! I wonder if any of the voiceover lists mention "Skrull Warrior #4" ;-)

Lilvic92 - Yeah I wouldn't care either, but I guess it would be better for the story since in Thor's ending they're looking for each other. They would have to correct a plot hole without her.

If I were Tony Stark, I would've done made a sloppy after hours with my secretary porno with Pepper Potts A LONG TIME AGO! SAUCY! :D

But this line actually worked for me, if you are an Artist/Graphic Artist/Writer or Creative Artistic Genius and the chica you want has seen the Iron Man movies: Just tell her "In a perfect World, you'd be the Pepper Potts to my eccentric Tony Stark."

I used this last month at the bar when I was Hella drunk; it just came to me and it worked! She laughed cuz she thought it was sweet, and I got so laid a week later!

My X-Mas gift to you my friends! Use this line, and go make babies! ;D

The lack of a confirmed Natalie Portman appearance has me raising furrowing my eyebrows as well. I would think it odd that Jane would be trying to get Thor back at the end of the THOR movie, but she would be nowhere to be found when Thor returns in THE AVENGERS. What would they do in THOR 2? "Hey Thor, I missed you last time around when you saved the world."

With that odd scenario in mind, I'm predicting that Jane *will* have a cameo, but they haven't filmed it yet (and they probably won't until closer to the film's release). Recall that CAPTAIN AMERICA's Nick Fury scene wasn't done until about 2 months before that movie came out.

I don't think iron man will have a circular arc reactor in this movie. If I'm not mistaken, he's only shown with the triangular arc reactor in the avengers trailer. The round was only featured in concept art. I think they chose to stick with the triangular reactor to set continuity from iron man 2 onwards.

The concept art also shows cap with ears, which are covered in the actual movie.. So there's clearly differences between what was planned and what the final product is.

It would be hilarious/ridiculous if there was a scene with all of the secondary characters -- Rhodey, Betty Ross, Thunderbolt, Blonsky/Abomination, Pepper, Old Peggy Carter, Happy Hogan -- all gathered in a S.H.I.E.L.D. green room somewhere sipping cocktails and waiting for this big invasion hoopla to blow over.

I'm actually happy to get this bit of news. The Stark Potts dynamic is part of what made the first Iron Man so good, and part of what made Iron Man 2 somewhat redeemable. She may have been frantic and angry in Iron Man 2, but that's because Stark was acting crazy and making the company look bad, but not explaining stuff. Any woman will tell you that communication is key. Admittedly, there are times when men and women speak in entirely different languages. However, no communication always fails.
