JoBlo.com has revealed some breaking info on the release of Marvel's The Avengers on DVD and Blu-Ray. You can check it out below. The Blu-Ray will be arriving Sept. 25th for your home viewing pleasure.

UPDATE: We've been contacted by Disney and asked to remove the Blu-ray/DVD details as, "The title art, features and date have not yet been finalized and (we) won't be announcing for several more weeks at the earliest."

You can check out the Blu-Ray cover art by clicking HERE. It's rumored to be unfinalized as of yet so it could always change. I think we have successfully identified the secret project Kevin Feige spoke of that was directed by Marvel Studios Co-president Louis D'Esposito. But what could it be? Is Item 47 the weapon that Coulson fired at Loki or is it something else? Maybe it's an introduction to fan favorite Ant-Man? It's anyone's guess but we should have more details soon. Reportedly, Marvel has a BIG announcement on the way this afternoon.

The Avengers is an American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is the sixth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and features an ensemble cast, which includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson. In The Avengers, Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America to save the world from destruction.

Development of The Avengers began when Marvel Studios received a grant from Merrill Lynch in April 2005. After the success of the film Iron Man in May 2008, Marvel announced that The Avengers would be released in July 2011. With the signing of Scarlett Johansson in March 2009, the film was pushed back for a 2012 release. Whedon was brought on board in April 2010 and rewrote the screenplay that was originally written by Zak Penn. Production began in April 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before moving to Cleveland, Ohio in August 2011 and New York City in September 2011. The film was converted to 3D in post-production.

The Avengers was released in the United States on May 4, 2012 in 2D and 3D.

I don't understand why they put "Marvel's The Avengers" on there. That's like if Warner Bros. did this "Warner Bros'. The Dark Knight Rises" or "Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man" It's retarded. Nobody will say "Hey, I got 'Marvel's The Avengers' 4-disc edition Blu Ray."

Everyone will just call it "The Avengers"

@dopemaster

I like that idea. I always wanted Captain America to face AIM in a sequel. Item 47 could be something left by the Chiaturi and recovered by AIM (tasked with New York City clean up). Or perhaps the Ten Rings get their hand on some alien technology.

@Darthzilla

There is a British TV show and movie called 'The Avengers' (you probably know). Marvel Studios wants to make it's identity clear. Plus I think it makes the film seem even more like a cinematic event.

And unlike Marvel, Warner Brothers has a loose grip on TDKR, so it's more likely to be titled-- "Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises", which still won't happen.

I finally watched the movie today. I was probably the last person on this site. :P

WOW...BEST CBM I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!

When I usually buy a DVD(I'm old school) of a movie, I just add it to my collection. With The Avengers DVD, I plan to watch it again as soon as I get it.

I was salivating for the Blu Ray of this movie immediately after watching it. Sadly, short of paying the ghastly upcharge for digital or IMAX, I can't get the same level of picture quality at the movie theater these days.
