(UPDATE) RUMOR: MS. MARVEL Headed To The Big Screen? They Have A Script?

Marvel apparently has a Ms. Marvel film script and will be making announcements about Phase 2 in the coming weeks according to Joe Quesada at the Cup O’ Joe panel at Kapow! Comic Con 2012.

According to Abby Chandler of Badhaven, Marvel's Joe Quesada stated that a script for Ms. Marvel is complete and that the film will be looking for a leading lady. As reported---

A script for a Ms/Captain Marvel movie is ready to go. They just needed an actress. Marvel are having a meeting in a couple of weeks and will be ready to announce some films then … He said we’d be pleasantly surprised.


This news definitely puts the reinvention of Carol Danvers by Kelly Sue DeConnick in a whole new light. Is the current comic design an indication of what we may see on the big screen some day?

What do you guys think, up for a solo Ms. Marvel film then seeing her fight next to Cap, Iron Man and Thor in Avengers 2? Joss Whedon has previously stated that he wants more female heroes in Avengers 2 and in a poll conducted on CBM not too far back, Ms. Marvel won out over original Avengers member Janet Pym aka The Wasp.







Update: Our own Josh Wilding attended this panel and assures me that Quesada said no such thing during the panel. The reporter supposedly spoke with Quesada off panel and despite a corroborating report from AICN, the specific statements regarding a script and Ms. Marvel have yet to be confirmed by other sources. Don't be surprised if Quesada makes a statement denying this.

I really hope she's Ms. Marvel and not Captain Marvel, that new design sucks bad.

@marvel72: Wonder Woman is a very different character based around Gods and mythology so it's not like if DC made Wonder Woman that it'd be anything like Ms. Marvel.

@ Red.. no she's not a mutant . You are thinking of Rouge ,when she stole all of Ms. Marvels Powers permanently. back in the 90's . Ms. Marvel got her powers from the Kree, tho I forgot how she got them. I still don't know why or how they took the powers from Rouge ...

Was this the secret project they filmed ? I heard a movie was all done already.. but nothing on what it was about.

And I was the actress that Sarah on Chuck could play Ms. Marvel.. seems like she would be the perfect fit for the role.

This would play right into my script for Uncanny X-Men that's set a few years in the future and has Rogue with all of Marvel's powers lol

Alright, I know about the character not much, but I'm all for Marvel's Phase 2. I'll also be glad to learn about her a lot. I have to say, though, that Warner Bros./DC Comics are pretty pathetic at this point...Ms. Marvel getting a movie treatment while Wonder Woman doesn't, oh well.

I know they want to see a flying character fast, but the Wasp flies, and Wanda and her came before Ms. Marvel. but, eh.. I'll shut up. lol.. seems they are not following the Avengers timelines, nor the Ultimates either.

I'm just glad to have them up on the screen!!!

Howard the Duck was never an Avenger, right? just checking.... [facepalm] that just popped horribly into my mind.

Carol Danvers was caught in an explosion and saved by Caption Marvel, the explosion caused some of his genes to fuse with hers making her ms.marvel.

Looks wise can't argue ANYTHING. But I don't know who she is ... runs to google ... see she has some experience. If she's a good actress I can think of no one who has the look more than her.

I don't buy this for a second. Marvel already has at least three films that have yet to be announced that ARE NOT Ms Marvel. Joe Q is not, nor will he ever, be the man to make this announcement. If Fiege doesn't come out and make an official announcement about a movie, the first rumbling we will here about it is usually from a director or star.

I hope this is so awesome and successful that WB HAS to make WW. I'd say that the success of The Avengers would have them do all the members of the Justice League and then a Justice League movie, but I can actually see them introduce all the other League members except for WW and then just introduce her in the JL movie. They'd actually do that. So support this film if you want a WW film.
