Once upon a time, a young Kevin Feige, current president of Marvel Studios, and Geoff Johns, current chief creative officer at DC Entertainment got started in Hollywood at the production company run by Richard and Lauren Shuler Donner. Today, they're two of the most influential people in the comic book adaptation business. Recently, Crave caught up with Donners where they asked a number of questions including how things were progressing with Days of Future Past and whether they'd team-up with their former employee Kevin Feige for an Avengers/X-Men collaboration.
How is X-Men: Days of Future Past going?
Lauren Shuler Donner: Not quite fast enough but it’s coming along. We have a great treatment and we’re just waiting for the screenplay.
Do you still have Jennifer Lawrence now that she's become a megastar thanks to The Hunger Games?
Lauren Shuler Donner: Yeah, definitely.
Now that The Avengers has done so well, it seems like the other studios with Marvel properties can see the advantage of making a deal. Can you see a world where this generation of X-Men could be in an Avengers movie?
Lauren Shuler Donner: I would love it. I would love it. I personally have close ties to Marvel because of Kevin Feige, because Kevin worked for me. But to take our characters and mingle them in the way that they were written, yeah, absolutely.
