The movie was very enjoyable the first time. I bought it on bluray but it just doesn't hold up as well and you really begin to see its flaws. Its way too long, most characters are poorly developed, its too cartoony, and a lot of things are cliche

toco89 - 10/21/2012, 2:03 PM
And the message was that Avatar made more money.

@Nick56

I didnt enjoy it the first time around for the same reasons. But Hiddleston, Ruffalo, and RDJ delivered as is their habit.

The avengers was made to make money purely. Although I don't expect any more than that outside of the Thor and Iron Man(as long as RDJ is Stark) movies.

"the avengers was made to make money purely" Wow seriously?!?! LOL, I'm guessing that they are rushing JL into production to capitalize on that amazing story they have been sitting on soooo long. They aren't worried about the money at all. :o| I think the Avengers probably made money because people enjoyed watching it more than once?!?! But I'm goofy like that.

@bluehawaiisurfer

Was that an attempt at a rebuttal? Cuz you failed. And repeat watches came from kids and die hard comic book and avengers fans.

You do understand that every single article about the JL movie, and anything DC past Man of Steel, are rumors and hearsay from unnamed sources right?

@bluehawaiisurfer well ya it's a movie made for all ages and everyone where a lot of movies are made for just particular audiences.

The first hour of the Avengers is an homage to Stark Trek the original series. Loki appears out of nowhere on the transporter/shield base. He immediately takes over some of the crew led by Mr Sulu/Hawkeye. The enterprise/heli carrier is attacked cue people falling over due to impact. The heli-carrier /enterprise is damaged cue Scotty/Kirk solving the problem in a suitably heroic manner, plus the Alien artifact is causing tension/fights among the Avengers/Crew of the enterprise. All that was missing was Scarlett Johanson dancing.

No, it wasn't a rebuttal smart ass.

THE AVENGERS made as much money as it did because it was a damn good movie.

1. 3rd highest grossing movie of all time
2. Apart of the 4th highest grossing film franchise of all time
3. The highest grossing superhero / comic book movie ever
4. Received universal commercial, financial, and critical success and praise
5. Claimed by a variety of sources as being the greatest superhero/comic book movie ever
6. Appealed to hardcore fans and the general audience

This movie/set-up was genious and is very deserving of their records and earnings. Great movie and I can't wait for the next round of films!

@HalloweenJack.. If a lot of the money came from repeat viewing, that just means it was THAT good of a movie. When looking at a common movie genre (which I loved), there were wayyy more diehard Batman fans who did multiple repeat viewing of TDKR, and it didnt even get close to Avengers. Fact is, there were a lot of people who did even know about the building-up movies, yet came to see and were floored by this one. Most of which went back to the previous movies, proven by the rise in their sales after the movie.

Avengers was just a great movie. Why argue?

Aliens only earned around 100 mil... guess what its about hundred times better than the avengers, box office doesn't mean a movies either good or bad.

No one is saying Avengers is the best movie ever. It was a good movie and a pretty great comic book movie. So what's your point again?

The Avengers did very well, but I am so pleased Nolan didn't make his films 3D, the money is not worth sacrificing the art.

@hallowjack

So your answer is that you're gonna ignore the point that you chose to address because you realized you didn't have a follow up to what you wrote, so you brought in a meaningless comparison to something I made no mention of, and followed it up with a sorry attempt at wit.

But in words you can understand, you don't know shit, so you bitch, throw a fit, and bullshit.

[frick], it even rhymes.
