Jeremy Renner Very Much Part Of The Marvel Family

A new report says Jeremy Renner will return as Hawkeye in future Marvel Studios installments and that the actor is still very much part of Marvel's movie making plans. Continue on for the report. Are you happy the rumor isn't true or did you actually want a new archer for The Avengers 2?

There was a buzz around these parts a few days ago when a rumor surfaced that Jeremy Renner could possibly be recast as Hawkeye in future Marvel Studios films. A few souls remained heavily skeptical and that turns out to have been the correct course of action. A new report from Perez Hilton comes after the site reached out to verify the rumor only to learn that Renner is still "very much a part of the Marvel family" and that he will be appearing in future, "upcoming installments." Maybe Renner's seemingly lack of involvement in pre-Avengers 2 films is really just a hush operation to hide a surprise cameo. Remember, Mark Ruffalo was said to not be in any films prior to The Avengers sequel as well. Naturally, the most likely fit for Renner wold be an appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier but there are two other Phase II films on the Marvel Studios docket as well before The Avengers 2. We'll keep you posted if additional details on Renner and Phase II emerge.

I think he will show up somewhere down the line, probably in an unexpecting cameo like Ruffalo.

I'm still expecting him to show up in the third act of CA:TWS as a member of Cap's S.H.I.E.L.D team. The Howling Commandos 2.0.

I just hope they give him some more humor here. Hawkeye's quips should be able to hold their own against Stark's.

Disappointed. But it wasnt his fault how they wrote Hawkeye in Avengers i guess! Was still looking forward to a new face!

Well he won't be appearing in Guardians or Thor: The Dark World I don't imagine, seeing as those films are very cosmic, and Hawkeye is likely to hang around more earthly areas. So The Winter Solider it probably is then, I would've liked it better if he had a supporting role like Widow but oh well

Yeah, saw this coming.

GOTG wouldn't fit so best guesses are Cap 2 and A2 (obviously). A Thor 2 after credits scene is plausible too.

@BigDamnHero: Same. With the team expanding, there's enough room for two smart asses and I can imagine the banter between him and Stark being gut-busting.

Good to know he's staying - we don't need an actor change, just more screen time for the character. Guessing he'll cameo in Winter soldier at some point or maybe in the short at end of Winter Soldier or Dark World.

Jeremy Renner is a great Hawkeye. Anyone else couldn't have done it any better. I hope to see him again in any kind of Marvel movie.

Glad he's back for continuity's sake but if he had to go then Jensen Ackles would have been perfect as a replacement..

The Ed Norton/Mark Ruffalo Banner switch was enough, still reckon this franchise would have been better off with Ed Norton.

Good. Now give him the feckin purple suit. Better yet, hire Chris Burns and give him the purple suit. Now that would work.

I have noticed a lot of negative news going around about Marvel Studios, and they are always debunked right away. It's almost like some other company is trying to sabotage their success.

I never thought that they would recast hawkeye. If they did it would have been a mistake. Luckily, Ruffalo killed it as Banner/Hulk so they got away with that one. But, you really need to keep continuity with these films. And Renner did a very good job as Hawkeye considering what he was given to work with. No reason to recast at all. I think that someone said to themselves "wow Renner/Hawkeye hasn't made any appearances since Avengers, they're going to get rid of him" and they wrote up a "scoop" article or something along those lines.
@batz11 I agree with you on that. Luckily those two characters were able to pull it off. In fact, Rachel Dawes was quite the improvement. And both guys did really well as Rhodey. But you're right in that changing up the faces of major players in all other cases is almost ALWAYS a bad idea. And once in a blue it works out for the better (Ruffalo,Gyllenhaal) but it's a HUGE risk to take. Especially, to people comic fans because continuity is very important to us.

He got a raw deal in the Avengers. He said he wanted to be Barton but for three quarters of the film he's a zombie. He played the real Hawkeye in Thor and that was only 5 mins. So blame whedon not the actor.

How many films did Ben Kingsley signed on 4? Just the 1?
ThePresence
ThePresence - 5/18/2013, 4:15 AM
@aztecRaingod You're right in The Avengers he wasn't "Hawkeye" from the comics with his wise cracks and quick wit. And like you said he still was great. In the first Thor film he was much more like the "real" Hawkeye. I would like to see more of that version. IMO that's the more accurate depiction of the Hawk.

@Happy11 I couldn't agree with you more. I was just saying to aztec that he was much more the "real" Hawkeye in the first Thor film. And in The Avengers he kind of got the shaft, and was just used as a device to move the plot along. But yeah could not have said it better myself my man. He was just a zombie with no funny or quick witted comments. They must have forgot that Hawkeye is the poor man's Tony Stark!

@MrReese - Yes I believe I heard/read that Sir Ben only signed on for one MCU film.

hey, he WAS in the first Thor flick, so...it WON'T be outta da question if he's in the SEQUEL, too. from the trailer it seems Malekith's attacking earth, so, who knows..we just might find Hawkeye taking part in the world's defense against the attack. or..he might be sent by Fury into the future and meet with GotG, i mean 'who knows'? the possibilities are ENDLESS. he's a comicbook character after all..they can ALWAYS make the illogical LOGICAL.

Whedon is good at many things, but character dynamics are usually his strong suit - looking forward to a real Hawkeye role in Avengers 2. Already imagining the fun to be had with Hawkeye, Stark and now Quicksilver in the same room.
Still would not rule out a Hawkeye guest appearance in S.H.I.E.L.D. tv show - guest appearances would really put the show up there in the Marvel universe.

I loved Hawkeye in the Avengers. His story was an nod to the fact that Hawkeye started out as a "crook" And I felt that he wasn't a zombie for Loki, he retained his skills and everything. IMO it felt like Loki controlled him but did not mind wipe him. He was the killer he could be if he didn't have somthing nice inside him.

He also didn't shoot Fury in the head even if he probably could have easily which seems to hint that he was fighting against the control of Loki.
ThePresence
ThePresence - 5/18/2013, 4:39 AM
@hummingbird68 - agreed I think there's a strong chance of him and or widow making a quick cameo on the S.H.I.E.L.D show. Among others of course. But as for The Avengers I think it will be those two. And yes, Burton, Stark, and Maximoff together if done correctly will be a lot of fun!

@EarOne - I'm not sure if Thor 2 takes place in the states at all though. Not that Hawkeye couldn't be overseas in the UK or whatever. I would just be inclined to think they won't use him for a scene if it's not in the states. But, that's just a guess. No rhyme or reason to back it up. So you may very well be correct. I really have no idea.

So much Marvel news this week, can't wait to see who they cast for Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Guessing the effects we'll see for wanda's magic will be an intro to how they will do Dr.Strange.

Just a thought - but didn't Hawkeye have a big bust up with Quicksilver over Wanda.

We need more Hawkeye screentime!! Also if anyone out there is listening, time to introduce Black Panther and Ms.Marel methinks!!

Nuff said

How did hawkeye get the shaft in the avengers?? He's a huge part of the story because of path they took the character.

I'm glad he's back. I think too much was made of his comments. For 2/3 of the movie he was a zombie. That's just how the story played out. Hawkeye is a supporting character and it made sense for that story. I'd like to see him be more himself in the next installment. Personally, I didn't have a problem with his comments as I didn't read anything into them. He was just stating a truth about the story. I also didn't have a problem with the story. We'll see how it goes from here.

This IS a different Hawkeye. This guy is military, not some reformed thief/archer. This will be different than what we grew up with. More Ultimates and not so much classic.

I guess if you're a true Hawkeye fan, that kind of sucks. The same will be said for Falcon fans after CA:TWS. It doesn't bother me, but I can see where it will bother some.
