The Wrap just reported that comedic actor Vince Vaughn and his Couple's Retreat director, Peter Billingsley will combine their talents on an adaptation of the Image comic book, Term Life for Universal Pictures. Filming is tentatively penciled in for a January start date. This continues a pattern by Universal of adapting smaller, 'independent-ish' comic books such as R.I.P.D. and 2 Guns where Warner Bros. and Disney browse through their respective DC and Marvel catalogs.
According to The Wrap the film "follows Nick Barrow, who specializes in planning heists and tricks before selling them off to the highest bidder. When one of his heists goes bad, everyone involved wants him dead, from mob bosses to contract killers and corrupt cops." But a synopsis on Image Comics website offers a little more detail. It seems Barrow has pissed off pretty much everyone he knows and accepts the fact that he'll be killed. The catch is that he has an estranged daughter he wants to provide for and in order to do so, he takes out a million dollar insurance policy on himself. However, it won't go into effect for 21 days so that's how long he has to dodge assassins and crooked law enforcement officials.
Lieberman and Thornborrow published the original graphic novel for Image back in 2011. Online reviews were very favorable, ranging from good to great.
