The people over at On Location Vacation have been tipped off that a casting call has been issued for Marvel's The Avengers this week. So it appears that Joss Whedon will be doing re-shoots on the much anticipated movie based on Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Filming will take place over at Manhattan Beach Studios, and will start today but only as rehearsal.

From On Location Vacation:

We’ve heard from a couple different sources that there was a casting call issued for The Avengers in Los Angeles this week.

All we know so far is that there is going to be some activity at Manhattan Beach Studios today for the movie, but it sounds like it is only a rehearsal or fittings, no actual filming, yet.

If they are doing some re-shoots in the next couple of weeks, it will most likely take place in the studio.

As stated in the report the re-shoot will take place in the studio and will not be a public spectacle such as the New York shoot. If you happen to work at the studio, however, and are able to get some pictures click the contact me button on the page.

The Avengers stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård , Samuel L. Jackson, and will be released on May 4, 2012.

"Re-shoots' is good news. That means they're seeing the weak points in the film and improving them!

Description says it's going to be mostly indoors...

Does that mean... surprise cameo for the After Credits????

GASP!!!
Jordanstine
Jordanstine - 1/3/2012, 11:57 AM
Since it's going to be shot inside the studios...

After Credits cameos please!
HelaGood
HelaGood - 1/3/2012, 11:59 AM
@Jordanstine i doubt they would leave Thanos to a post credit scene... especially since after The Avengers, each of them will go off to their own solo film. its like introducing a HUGE villain that only the Avengers could take on collectively and then they go their merry way apart from each other... wouldnt make sense.

Well, actually 'Thor', 'Captain America' and 'X-men: first class' all went through re-shoots, and they ended up being quite good, right?

@Hela
Yep, i've read the news about Red Skull teaming up with Loki too! Sounds plausible to me, mainly 'cause the CA film ending. I'd prefer a fresh villain, but what the hell...

I guess re-shoots are more common then not. Still a bit nearve wracking. A giant movie like this is going to be hard to pull off. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Ehh, every movie has re shoots. Even, The Dark Knight. There is nothing to be concerned about. All this means is that Whedon is one step closer to completing this movie.

@Hellbound+HelaGood- I think I posted them but the amount of Avengers spoilers recently has overwhelmed me, lol

I do remember a set pic in Central Park where we see Thor and Loki shack hands. That looked like the end of the movie with everyone there. So Loki fighting with the Avengers is plausible.

Re shoots are totally normal and a good thing for us. It means they are finally putting the final edit together and are seeing holes in the story that need to be filled in and they are going back to do those. So it's all good, be happy they have money saved up to do reshoots.

@Hellbound

Those rumors were debunked in SHH. Besides, those rumors basically stated these "Red Skull + Loki" scenes were already filmed and finish. So these new re-shoots are entirely something different.

Anyway, again the "Red Skull + Loki" rumors have already been debunked.

Remember X2 were doing re shoots one month prior to its release. Seemed to work out okay for that movie. Heck, Avatar the number one grossing movie of all time (technically it is Gone with the Wind), had re shoots 2 months prior to its release. I would be willing to bet anything he is just filming some ancillary scenes that will bridge whatever scenes Whedon didn't feel were flowing correctly.

None, of the set pieces are going to be re shot. Those are probably deep into post right now. Again, nothing to be concerned about.

haven't got a problem with reshoots,if it makes the film better i'm all for them.

re-shoots? Not a good sign if they're still reshooting 5 months before the theatrical release
Supes17
Supes17 - 1/3/2012, 12:31 PM
But like Marvel72 said, if it makes the movie better than it's all good. They still have time

But seriously, if WB ever said that TDKR would be reshooting, yall would be bitching at it like crazy, saying how it will be shit and all..

Nothing but bias....lmfao..

These are the REAL rumors (SuperHeroHype) from an early pre-screening in December:

- Movie begins with prologue narrated by a female S.H.I.E.L.D. agent (Maria Hill or Sharon Carter perhaps) weaving together all the Marvel Universe films

- Film shows how S.H.I.E.L.D. discovers Captain America’s frozen body, along with the Cosmic Cube

- Captain America is literally the 1st Avenger recruited (which follows the Ultimates animated film’s storyline)

- Hulk is the last Avenger on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s radar

- Iron Man gets into fights with everyone including a fight with Captain America

- There is a big and lengthy 3-man super battle.

- Yes comic book fans, we will see Thor vs Hulk – Merry Christmas!

- The “aliens” are described like beast warriors although the CG’s weren’t finished, but they growl and are wearing masks including “metallic and robotic-like armor”

- There are also “giant snake-like creatures” - yes with an “s” as in more than 1 giant snake-like creature

- The pre-screened ending did not reveal any cameo i.e. secret villain; if there is indeed some sort of secret cameo, unless a new ending has been shot, it will be in the after credits / post-credits scene (which was not shown)

- Rough cut of the movie ran close to about 2 and ½ hours (and that was without any post-credit scenes)

Update:

- Neither the Red Skull nor Thanos were in the main movie (if they are it will have to be cameos and likely a post-credit scene)

- Rumor swirling Loki joining Avengers is false. He never does.

- Aliens being the Shi'ar or even named the "Redacted" are even more false.

What happened? The new iPHONE came out? I kid I kid.

But RFD and Marv are right; NOT re-shooting something that isn't up to par would be a problem.

Evans-"Thank God..Can't wait to get out of this costume..."

@supes, god I hate that helmet. I give the designers credit for making the costume look like it was ripped out of the comics. However, that helmet, meh.
