James Spader On Playing An "Eight Foot Robot" In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

While The Blacklist star doesn't reveal too much about his role as the villainous Ultron in Joss Whedon's follow-up to The Avengers, he does talk in detail about what it was like to appear at this year's San Diego Comic-Con in this new video interview. Check it out!

With season two of The Blacklist set to kick off soon, James Spader recently made an appearance on Friday's edition of the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and talk soon turned to Avengers: Age of Ultron. Unfortunately, there's nothing too spoilery, but Ultron WILL be physically imposing!

"I'm Ultron, eight-foot robot," the actor teased before moving on to talk about his experience at this year's San Diego Comic-Con when he came out on stage with  the rest of the sequel's cast members. "We finished the season of Blacklist, and two days later I got on a plane and flew to London to shoot the Avengers. And then right after that came back here to New York and flew immediately to Comic-Con. And then flew back from Comic-Con to start shooting the second season of Blacklist. But Comic-Con is the most insane…have any of you ever been to Comic-Con? [Several audience members applaud] Oh, my god, you brave, brave souls. It is crazy. I mean life really can’t get strange enough for me, but I mean it’s the craziest place I have ever been."

Spader then compared the event to the type of experience you would have at a concert, albeit with one key differentce. "But Comic-Con it’s all anticipation. They’re not getting a performance in any way, shape or form. It’s a tease, because it’s all anticipatory. It’s like foreplay for hours and days. It’s three days of foreplay. But what you don’t realize, it’s not like at the end of the three days you get that, it’s going to happen. They’re anticipating an event that’s not going to happen for six months or a year." Are you looking forward to seeing Spader's take on Ultron in the movie?

Can't wait to see Cap use Mjolnir to destroy Ultron. He'll be every kid's favorite superhero after Avengers 2.

@GliderMan

I know almost nothing about this film and I can say with confidence that Ultron will easily top Loki. Spader is that great.

@blackandyellow actually, it's the hulk who picks up & swings cap by his ankles while cap is holding mjjolnir that defeats Ultron.

I swear they better not kill of Ultron! Although it's highly impossible for them to really kill him (since he's able to transfer himself to nearby tech), I'm sure Marvel will figure a way to kill him.

Please Marvel! Let some of your villains live and continue on with their villainous life!

Trust me fellas, I got a good feeling about my prediction. Cap almost picking up Mjolnir when they're partying has to foreshadow something.

I'm almost certain that Cap almost picking up Mjolnir will be foreshadowing Avengers 3: the Avengers vs Thanos, everyone dead or dying around him, Cap picks up Mjolnir and epicness ensues. Minds will melt. Heads will implode. And I'll be able to die a happy man.

IMO, much of the Green Lantern Lore is under appreciated these days. Maybe it's because of the film. I agree though. Look at this badass...
