AVENGERS Star Mark Ruffallo Weighs In On Benedict Cumberbatch As DOCTOR STRANGE

If you were expecting the Sorcerer Supreme to make an appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron to blast the Hulk into outer space a la Planet Hulk, think again, as Mark Ruffallo has yet to meet the latest addition to the MCU. He is however excited for the British actor...

At one point, rumours and theories started circulating that Avengers: Age of Ultron would see the Hulk blasted off into outer space, taking him off the table for Captain America: Civil War and leaving the door open for a Planet Hulk movie. The Illuminati being responsible always seemed unlikely, and the fact that Mark Ruffalo has not yet met Benedict Cumberbatch means that we can pretty much forget seeing Doctor Strange before his movie in 2016 (which seemed pretty obvious anyway). Regardless, the Foxcatcher star is the first member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to weigh in on the addition of Benedict Cumberbatch, so check out his reaction in the video above!

Aww man, just about every post today is the calm before the proverbial storm! I work in human resources office currently, about three fourths of the workers here are just waiting. The comic shops in my area are doing Avenger discount sales in anticipation of a TRAILER. Opening night is going to be insane.

@TheRationalNerd in the comics Strange is a member of the Illuminati who jettison Hulk into space. The other members were if I recall Tony Stark Professor X, Reed Richards, Namor and Black Bolt.

Yeah, enough with that guy who had that 1 role in that 1 show for total of about 10 episodes already!

Haha, Pascal would've been a phenomenal choice for Dr. Strange. Joaquin Phoenix would've been too. But when you put together a list of actors for a role and Cumberbatch comes in 3rd or 4th, then that's a pretty damn strong list. I'm sure he'll be great.

@EzioKenway1225 It's funny, I think Cumberbatch has really transformed and lost himself in roles like Sherlock, Star Trek Into Darkness, The Hobbit (if Smaug counts, I guess), 12 Years a Slave, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

But when I look at trailers for The Imitation Game, I can't picture him as Alan Turing...he just looks and acts like Cumberbatch to me haha. That's just coming from someone who hasn't even seen that movie yet. I've heard the same things about Imitation Game that you have.

@EzioKenway1225 Ha yep, that's probably it. Dr. Strange just might be the perfect role for him right now though.

In my mind, Cumberbatch had so much commitment to the part that he actually did transform into a dragon. He performed his role, did most of his own stunts, then sat down to have that awesome "interview" with Colbert. Such dedication.
