Avengers: Age of Ultron continues to go from strength to strength as the sequel has finally reached China. On its first day in the Middle Kingdom, the movie grossed an amazing $33.9 million, the biggest ever opening for a Disney/Marvel movie there. As we mentioned above, it's also twice as much than what both The Avengers and Iron Man 3 made, and it also accounted for a record breaking 95.5% of box office takings yesterday. That takes its international cume to $607.4 million, giving it a worldwide total of $932.2 million thanks to a $324.8 million domestic haul.
Interestingly, The Hollywood Reporter mentions that Chinese subtitles are causing moviegoers in the country some real issues. For example, Captain America's "You get hurt, hurt 'em back. You get killed... walk it off," line has been changed to "Run fast if someone tries to kill you." The problem is that translators appear to be interpreting what's said too literally, but as cinema chains there reportedly start fixing the problem, it shouldn't cause the equal to take any sort of hit in terms of ticket sales. China will likely help push Avengers: Age of Ultron past $1.4 billion.
