Updates On Marvel's TV Slate; Are We Going To See 'Blade', 'Ghost Rider' And 'Punisher'?
A new report claims to shed some light on Marvel's TV plans, and it sounds like everything from a Hulk prequel to various Netflix spinoffs are in the works! Meanwhile, Marvel movie stars might be heading to the small screen...and does Kevin Feige hate Marvel TV?!
Heroic Hollywood has a piece up looking at Marvel's TV future, and while much of it appears to be speculative, there are definitely some interesting titbits in there. For example, they point out that some studio execs and writers view the small screen portion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as something of a burden, with Kevin Feige looking down on that side of things, but accepting it as a "necessary evil" because it's what Disney demands. That actually makes an awful lot of sense, and Feige's lack of involvement with the TV side of Marvel's output became apparent when he revealed that he hadn't yet watched Daredevil during promotion for Avengers: Age of Ultron.
They go on to add that the likes of Cloak and Dagger, Ms. Marvel, and a Hulk prequel are all in development at ABC, and confirm that Elektra is indeed coming to Daredevil next year. There's apparently been talk of adding Blade, Ghost Rider, and Punisher to Netflix, but it seems they're unsure whether the characters could hold their own in TV show. Finally, it sounds like those rumours about Marvel wanting Doctor Strange to appear in The Defenders is true, while Netflix are said to be keen on a movie or mini series starring characters like Black Widow and Hawkeye.
Again, much of this sounds speculative, so don't get too excited about anything here just yet. There's definitely a lot to think about here though, so share your thoughts in the usual place!
