Check Out The Trailer For Animated ARROW/THE FLASH Spinoff Series VIXEN

Announced earlier this year, we finally have the first trailer for the upcoming animated CW Seed series Vixen! Set in the same world as Arrow and The Flash, it stars Megalyn Echikunwoke as the titular hero and is set to run for six episodes. Hit the jump to check it out...

For those of you that don't know about the show, Vixen follows Mari McCabe, a woman whose parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and wanton violence. But the orphaned Mari refused to succumb to the terrors surrounding her. Inheriting her family’s Tantu Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals – anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from threats like those that claimed her family.

Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin, Emily Bett Rickards, and Carlos Valdes are among those from Arrow and The Flash who will be reprising their live-action roles in this series, and it should be interesting to see whether or not the character ends up making an appearance in one of those down the line...

This looks better than I thought and am happy because of that. If this ever does get made into a live action version, I hope whoever plays Vixen gives her an African accent. The biggest disappointment is that Vixen really won't be shown in the series. Maybe if this becomes a hit it will, but sadly I just don't see her being added. It would be great if this show allows B'wana Beast to be shown next, even if it's just at the end of the Vixen final.

REALLY excited for this! It's great to see the lesser known characters getting introduced (although she had a small role on JLU years ago). DC animation is on point!

2016 is going to be so overwhelmingly AWESOME guys. I cant even fathom.... Secret Warriors, Agent Carter,Daredevil and the Punisher,Jessica Jones, Green Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Vixen, Civil War with Black Panther and Spider-Man, Dr.Strange, Batman v Superman:Dawn of Justice with Aquaman, Wonderwoman, Robin, Oracle, Nightwing and Cyborg, Suicide Squad, Deadpool and X-men: Apocalypse. These are truly great and un-imaginable times!

First black lead female hero and she has to get an short animated series. I don't know if I should be happy that i'm seeing a minority female lead for the first time, or angry because they are making her a damn animated character. I guess something is better than nothing.

Better than I thought it was going to be. This was much better suited for Halle Berry than Catwoman.

Seriously, why the hell can't we just have a combined DC Cinematic and Television universe?! Right now this all looks incredible! If you combined the two, this would be SO epic! Just put the events of Arrow after those in MOS

actually, mistake. Put the evens of Arrow (pre- flash) before MOS, and after Flash's introduction just prior to MOS

@Maguie777 There has only been one thing in the DCEU.

This series is supposed to be cannon with the live action. So when does it take place seeing...
1: Oliver is wearing his old costume and he supposedly retired at the end of season 3. When Oliver comes back in season we've seen the new costume he'll be wearing. So does it take place between season 3 & 4?
2: Same with The Flash... because he's gone up into the vortex

"if only Warner/DC made the same effort on feature films the way the do for their animated ones we would have so much more DC fans instead of the 30/40 year old grown ups following the dark and gritty movies they produce.

Bruce Timm is the right person for the DCEwwwwhhh but no, they had to go with Hack Znyder"

-- It's statements like this from uninformed people, that makes me come here less & less often.

For one thing, live action features is outside of Bruce Timm's area of expertise. It's like expecting Zack Snyder to bear into animation, after never having done it before.

For another thing, if you like Bruce Tim so much, then why are you complaining about DC doing animation?

Also, DC has plenty of fans, not sure why you think they don't. And, it was animation that brought most of us into DC in the first place. Not to mention, I've introduced my nieces & nephews to DC thru their animation.

If DC's "dark & gritty" movies aren't for you, then there's plenty of material from them that should be to your taste. Otherwise, there's always Marvel, who makes infantile live movies for those same 30-40 year olds that you seem to have such a problem with.

@NoPhucksGiven

It being animated is the last thing to worry about. Should this be successful, she'll more than likely show up in live-action in either Arrow or The Flash at some point. Why would CW go to all this trouble, if they don't have bigger plans for Vixen?

I'm still really annoyed about it being animated and a web-series, because it's going to be nearly impossible for it to affect the Arrowverse as much as the Arrowverse will affect it, and it makes the crossover nearly impossible (especially since the voice actress doesn't look a whole lot like her animated counterpart, although neither does anyone else (no offense to the great Phil Bourassa)). BUT all in all it looks really great. Still hoping for B'wana Beast to get involved, too! ^_^

@Maguie777 : Thanks Dousche bag... although I did hold out hope that Smallville would get good again by the end, so maybe you're right ;p
@TheAxiom:
I definitely agree that the writing isn't up to par (at all) with DCCU (but neither has anything I've seen from the Agents of Shield). However, there are some really good elements within the CW's Arrow universe.
In regards to the fact that Arrow got laid 20 minutes after playing hot potato with his sister's mind, what guy stops to think before getting his rocks off?

it'll explain everything
