Joss Whedon Reveals An AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Easter Egg You Definitely Missed

Avengers: Age of Ultron wasn't a movie packed full of Easter Eggs for comic book fans, but in the director's commentary for the sequel, Joss Whedon has revealed one very clever reveal which everyone definitely missed. What is it? Well, you can find out after the jump...

ScreenCrush have had a listen to the Avengers: Age of Ultron director's commentary, and have revealed a very interesting Easter Egg which has so far been overlooked. When Thor had a vision of Asgard - which was supposed to include Loki before Tom Hiddleston was cut - a lot of very strange and trippy imagery could be seen, including three strange masked characters standing in doorways. On closer inspection, you can see that they're wearing wolf, ram, and hart/stag masks.

As it turns out, this is actually a very clever nod to Joss Whedon's old series, Angel (which was of course a Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff). The site points out, "On Angel, The Wolf, The Ram and The Hart were an ancient trio of true demons who, in present day Earth, are 'senior partners' at the Los Angeles law firm Wolfram & Hart. Through this organization, they enact their evil will, representing murderers and other demonic individuals." That's a pretty cool nod, and confirms that the trio pictured below seemingly aren't some newly introduced characters who will be causing the God of Thunder any problems in Thor: Ragnaork. Did you spot this? Be honest now...

Joss should have focused more on better Ultron characterization and less on Angel easter eggs

@Jollem

Oh please, Thor was crushing his armor easily during their little tussle, his only advantage was his blasters.

And if by enraged, you mean a calmed down hulk just witnessing all the destruction he had just caused, than sure, enraged.

Would have rather had some nods to the comics and the Marvel universe instead of Buffy or Angel....

More Jollem crying about RDJ in some fashion. Just another day

Of couse joss would shoe horn Easter eggs for his own shoes. Yet he kills quicksilver and says it was necessary

Am I the only one that's annoyed that Joss spent that much time focusing on props for a nod to "Angel" when he was making an Avengers: Age Of Ultron movie?

My favorite easter egg was where we were to believe that Black Widow wasn't going to be shoehorned into a very shitty subplot with Hulk.

I don't mean go off on Whedon, but after watching that Thor cave scene too, I really don't know what Whedon was thinking with some of this, it really does feel like he's more suited for Tv in a lot of ways

One cool thing about that cave scene, was it made me imagine how amazing Mephisto could be on the big screen

The Quicksilver death is still fresh and annoying too, there had to be some type of rights issue or deal they made to use him in one film, if Marvel really just agreed to kill him off, and if their not planning on bringing him back, with all of his history in the comics, that's just not cool.... not cool man

I kind of feel like Whedon may have been micro managed as far as how intense Hel could be in AOU. And I can understand that. They don't want to alienate a key demographic by making it too intense and nightmare inducing. I remember as a kid being freaked out after seeing the Uruk-Hai being brought to life in Isengard. LOTR was down right scurry.

We have a whole movie that most of us are eagerly anticipating that pretends Batman could fight Superman but people have a hard time believing Iron Man could go toe-to-toe with Thor?
