Kevin Feige Teases Identity Of THE AVENGERS' "Aliens"; Comments On Red Skull Rumors

"We're not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that," says Kevin Feige of the mysterious villains in The Avengers, confirming that they ARE from the comic books and revealing whether or not the Red Skull will appear.

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, Marvel Studios' head honcho Kevin Feige has revealed a few new details about the mysterious army set to appear in The Avengers. Below is just a brief excerpt from the article, but be sure to pick the magazine up when it goes on sale later this week to read much, much more.

"Who said they were aliens?" he teases. Beings from the Nine Realms, then, ventures Empire? "Closer...It's not Skrulls, I've been clear about that. Beyond that, we want to hide it. The identity of the alien race is not impactful. It exists in the comic books, but we're not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that."

"Was Skull vaporised at the end of the movie, or thrust into another realm?" asks Feige. "That remains to be seen. It would be fun to see Skull in future, but he's not in this one." Whedon though is a little more circumspect when Empire confronts him. "I do have a comment on that," he says, before pulling a move worthy of Loki himself. "It's...oh, you're breaking up!"

Well, those Kree/Skrull rumors can now be put to rest for good it seems. It is also interesting that Feige points out that while they are from the comic books, their identity isn't "impactful". As for the Red Skull, it would appear that Marvel Studios definitely have plans for him in the future...let the speculation commence!

STARRING:

The word 'impactful' is misspelled as 'imapctful' in the excerpt, just a heads-up. :)

Anyway, this is getting more interesting...I won't guess, I won't speculate. I'll just wait and see.

The identity of the alien race is not impactful? I wonder what he means by that. Aliens coming to town and ripping shit up can't easily be down played. Judging by the trailer, the whole world knows they're here.

Oh well, at least the Skrull thing can be laid to rest.

Has anyone suggested the Frost Giants??? I mean why not it would explain a lot of stuff? Like Loki's involvement and the group being brought together? If there were enough of them and the fact they start killing thousands of Humans?? Just thinking out loud...

Lets think people "he says he has ways of getting to the 9 realms that to even Heimdal with all his gifts are blind too...but has no need of them as he is king."

They revealed an infinity gauntlet at comic con, ITS THANOS!!!

I have not seen Thor since it was in theatres, but correct me if I have remembered wrong but didn't Loki kill Laufey and attempt to destroy Jotunheim? I don't think the frost giants would be very eager to help Loki after all this.
Bearjew
Bearjew - 1/23/2012, 5:09 AM
Atlantians. At this point the only thing keeping me sceptacle are the blue lasers in the trailer shooting down from the sky and everyone looking up

tea: I've been thinking it was either Thanos' motley hoard or Annhilus' army on loan for a long time. However, seeing as how Marvel has made it very clear that they are pursuing a Inhumans film in the future what better way to introduce them than to have them duped into fighting The Avengers by Loki?

I know it's a long reach but it would be cool and I could see it working.
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 1/23/2012, 5:13 AM
For that matter.....with their technology it could even be the Wakandans tricked into some kind of confrontation by Loki.

Intruder: If you re - read what I said you would see that I said The Inhumans are "duped" by Loki. The "on loan" comment was referring to Thanos or Annhilus as if they had some kind of deal working.

Pay attention Trudy you're usually more attentive than that. =D
