Possible Running Time For MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS Revealed

Possible Running Time For MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS Revealed

A British cinema chain has posted what might just be the running time for The Avengers (or Marvel Avengers Assemble as it's known here). Hit the jump to find out what it is!

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures Marvel’s The Avengers--the super hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

You'll notice that there is a "tbc" in front of information, although I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is accurate - I recall Vue being one of the first film sites to have an accurate running time for THOR last year too. The fact they've added the new UK title for the movie (Marvel Avengers Assemble) alongside the length could indicate that this information has come directly from Marvel, although that is of course purely speculation at this point. Either way, fans will be very happy with the idea of the superhero ensemble being an impressive two and a half hours long.

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

RELEASE DATE: April 27, 2012. (UK) May 4th, 2012. (US)

2 1/2 to 3 hours would be great, they need a lot of time to etablish and flesh out all the characters

@grif
Credits are never really more than ten mins, at least not in any movie I've seen. They're usually from 4 minutes minimum to 8 minutes maximum approximately. I can guarantee they won't be more than 10 mins.

Grrr. Was hoping for another X3-like 90-minutes... I kid. But this won't get me home from the opening midnight show til nearly 4 in the morning! 2.5 hours would be perfect!

It needs at least 2 1/2 hrs. With as much bad assery as they're attempting to cram into it I'm sure it will still feel short. I don't think anyone walked away from that 2nd trailer going "meh". Not even caps goofy cowl (he should have kept the one from CATFA and used it with his new uniform) can distract from the grand spectacle this movie will most assuredly be.

With all the things they need to explain (Cap finding out about Peggy, Thor getting back to Earth, capturing Loki and the escape, other things) it better be at least 2 1/2 hours or more!!!

That's about the time stamp I expected for the movie but I was hoping for longer actually. I was hoping for 2 Hours 45 Minutes.

I just want this to be the most epic movie ever created and I know I will never want it to end. The only movies I'm more excited for are 1) The mythical Justice League movie that needs to be made and 2) Man of Steel.

that sounds about right. if it comes in around 2:20 and he pulls off all the character development and action that will be one helluva tight script

@113 and if your mythical JL movie gets made you can thank Marvel Studios. DC would never have had the balls to even think it, were it not for the vision and balls of Marvel.

Your welcome DC ;P

little piece on SOCIAL IDENTITY THEORY on how experiments show (here in the context of whether you are a Xbox fan or some other game console fan, but the idea applies equally well to politics, sports affiliations or indeed, comic book companies like Marvel vs. DC) that people who strongly identify with a team have a tendency to attack the "other team" due to insecurities about their own status.
