Stan Lee Comments On The Next Wave Of Marvel Movies

Stan "The Man" Lee shares his thoughts on which superheroes he's most looking forward to seeing brought to the big screen now that The Avengers is finally here and also comments on the planned Daredevil and Fantastic Four reboots.

"Oh I’d be happy if they add the Black Panther and maybe Dr. Strange," revealed Stan Lee in a recent interview with I Am Rogue when he was asked which of his many creations he'd like to see join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the inevitable sequel to Marvel's The Avengers. "Those two and probably Ant-Man, which I think they are working on. Maybe I’ll play a little role in that."

As for how he feels about seeing the characters assemble on the big screen, Stan added: "I never imagined I’d see any of my characters become movies. But this was a logical thing to do. It was smart. I’m amazed that DC didn’t beat us to it with the Justice League. But you’ve got to hand it to Marvel."

Of course, Marvel Studios aren't the only ones who are working on bringing his creations to cinemas over the next few years. 20th Century Fox are developing reboots of both Daredevil and Fantastic Four, an idea which it turns out that "The Man" is a fan of. "I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea to reboot The FF, and Daredevil, those two. Because Daredevil didn’t do as well as I hoped it would. Yet I love the character so I would love to see him rebooted."

i think marvel should try & set up another team in the marvel cinematic universe.

-dr.strange
-the incredible hulk 2
-namor
-the defenders

just imagine the avengers & the defenders up against a cosmic heavy weight like thanos.

we know we've got iron man 3,thor 2 & captain america 2 all on the way & the avengers 2 is a no brainer.

dc needs to get their act together & start trying different heroes other than batman & superman all the time,i know they tried with green lantern & it was abit of a failure but they shouldn't just give up,they've got all their characters under one roof & they're doing f*ck all about it.

DC could do something epic but after Green Lantern...they are years behind...hopefully the new Superman movie will pave the way...if not good luck with that Batman reboot again lol

I smell a twist of Civil War in the next Avengers movie espically after everyone in the movie was calling for the superhero Registration Act...then the post credits Scenes in Cap 2, Thor 2, and Ironman 3 show Thanos slowly gathering The Gems for the Gaunlet and in Avengers 3 closing with the Heros coming together to defeat Thanos...

What about July 20th? So TDKR is gonna hit. And we know its gonna be beyond amazing. But what about after that? Besides Superman (and who knows how that will turn out)what else is DC going to do? The so called Lobo live action flick?

What we need is a WW,Flash and JLA film. DC has control of all their characters and are too dumb to put 2 and 2 together. With that said, DC needs to grow some balls and get their shit together because by the time they figure it out, Marvel will probably be in phase 3.

Oh YUP! I like that idea. Avengers 2 focuses on Civil War and towards the end they have to team up to defeat Ultron, who Pym created to help Iron Man and the registered heroes. LOVE IT.

Marvel had the right idea by tying in each of their movies to other characters, that way whenever it inevitably came to the Avengers, the stage was set. DC has yet to really do that so unless they plan on adding other characters from the JLA to the new Superman film, I don't know where they're going to be able to start implementing them.

Or maybe they just don't care. Which is a bummer because I'm more of a DC fan than a Marvel fan. Actually, more of a Vertigo fan all around but if I had to pick between the two, DC/Marvel, to me, DC has the better characters and the better stories.

@Ghostfire-have you or anyone else heard the "Lobo being helped by a teenage girl on earth" plot rumor yet?

I was psyched when I heard the Lobo film was moving ahead, and then depression washed over me.

I swear...

@Preacher...We know that Batman is gonna do numbers but I think after Avengers, DC will have to start thinking of something...Maybe more of a Trinity movie or Batman/Superman before JLA

@Fonzieismypal..Ultron will be the most logical pick as the villian in Avengers 2...since Whedon said he wants to go small, I think he plans of keeping it on Earth with the tension of the superheros before bring chaos with Thanos..too rich of a story to rush into Avengers 2

Black Panther movie-Could not include his wife since Fox has the rights to Ororro. That is messed up. Shame Marvel can't get all of its characters back under one roof.

Really? WTF?! First time I actually heard about that plot rumor. Instead of a solo flick for LOBO, they should've added him as the main baddy in the new Superman film, IMO.
BigHec
BigHec - 4/25/2012, 3:01 PM
@Fonzieismypal....well the after Credits scenes and Guardians of the Galaxy movies can clear the way for him...Unless Whedon was lying about going small and is going all out with The Infinity Gauntlet...i think its better for Avengers 3 also cuz it gives Marvel more time to get the rights back for other characters including Xmen, Spiderman and Fantastic 4...
Fonzieismypal

@JKM
It's going to be very hard to convince the "general audience" to accept a Batman reboot unless they wait a while. I like your idea because I think trying to introduce Batman alone would just bug people too much, and I think it would keep us from seeing a Justice League movie any time soon.

sorkin should write the daredevil movie. it should be a like a few good men with action/fight scenes sprinkled in, with wilson fisk on trial. so somewhere different with the next batch of movies. this origin/rogue of the week formula is getting tired.

I was hoping they would use him in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie... Shoot! It would be so cool to see all those characters in a Civil War movie though. Marvel just needs more time... Starting to rethink whether or not I'd rather see Thanos in Avengers 2 if it means a big Civil War threequel.

Black Panther first relationship was with Monica Lynne and he was engaged to her. so u dont need Storm in a Black Panther movie at all.

They need to stop with Batman altogether I never thought I would get sick of seeing him so much but I have, to the point that I'm not even excited for TDKR which is how it shouldn't be I mean seriously in a decade we've had:

Animated Series

1.Batman Beyond/Batman of the Future (which was nice because it wasn't Bruce but he was still there)

2.The Batman

3.Batman: The Brave and the Bold

4.Beware the Batman (next year)

Animated Movies

1.Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker/Batman of the Future: Return of the Joker

2.Batman: Gotham Knight

3.Batman: Under the Red Hood

4.The Batman vs. Dracula

5.Superman/Batman: Public Enemies

6.Justice League: Doom aka The death of JLA by Batman

Games

1.Batman: Arkham Asylum

2.Batman: Arkham City

3.LEGO Batman

4.LEGO Batman 2

5.Gotham City Impostors

Movies

1.Batman Begins

2.The Dark Knight

3.The Dark Knight Rises

If DC/WB Put half of there time towards other projects they might turn out a bit more decent.

I hope Superman turns out great to maybe take away some of the limelight from Batman for a little while.

DC's Justice league characters look and sound juvenile in comparison to the Avengers. It will be harder to sell them to the general public after the Avengers because of their cheesy concepts. The general public aint about to regress back to a bunch of overly colourful superheroes with names as basic as DC does e.g Blah-Man, Blah-woman, Blah-boy, Blah-Girl etc etc

The Justice League is way to cheesy at a glance, it's like a step backwards from the more better conceived Superheroes Marvel has managed to successfully present to the public. You simply cant throw them a King from an undersea world giving up ruling his nation to come and fight crime in America, a Princess made from mud who gives up her position to come and fight crime in America, a Martian from another planet who forgoes trying to get back home to instead stay and fight crime in America.. this stuff is retarded!

@bighec- man I really doubt that marvel will be getting the xmen or spiderman films back under their roof. I wish they could because it would make things even more terrific but all these other greedyass studios are gonna keep popping out sub-par xmen, fantastic four, and daredevil movies just so they can hold onto the rights for those properties. Cmon marvel make some magic happen and find some legal loophole to obtain the rights to those characters again.

I agree totally with JMK. If they are going for the careful and conservative, WB should make Trinity. With Wonder Woman, Superman and Bats it will be watched, NO DOUBT. The same goes for Worlds Finest but Trinity is a better choice. There on out they add a easter egg for a Justice League, introducing Flash and Green Lantern, Barry Allen and Hal Jordan, and move forward afterwards with possible separate and own character driven movies. That could ignite a bit more curiosity, what is that Green dudes background, how did he get so fast etc. ?

Anyways, WB has to let DC do this, give them full power like Disney has given Marvel Studios. And DO NOT HIRE THOSE IDIOTIC WRITERS OF GREEN LANTERN! Add true fan-writers, artists who truly understand the content and legacy of the character and the enourmous mythology stored within it.

I love both Marvel and DC. The one has what the other lacks, and I doubt there is any Marvel-fan who would not see a Trinity or JLA for that matter. They just need to make it right, cut out certain dumb elements, change some little things and keeping the story true. We deserve such movies from WB/DC! Now, I am looking most forward to Bats this year, and especially Supes next year but its not enough! Marvel has established three main characters in the Marvel-verse within 4 years! It took WB over 20 years from the first Superman to make a Green Lantern! Its absurd!

What Thor especially showed us is that you if you can mix the absurd and scenery effects with some humour and decent actors, while staying very true to the character's mythology, the people will enjoy it! Comics have incredible stories and I know for a fact that even non-comic readers can really enjoy our passion!

That was way more than I intended to write! Sorry!

@Samster10001...I think they will soon..Disney has enough money to [frick]ing do anything they want..i wouldnt doubt seeing them buy some properties back once Kevin Feige is running Disney..it might be a good thing if he gets the job cuz he would push for Marvel to do extra things, imagine how we fan boys got when we saw the Avengers side by side...now imagine if Wolverine and Spiderman in that circle..EPIC

@Dev7 i think ur right..Ultron is the most logically way to go especially if Pym is introduced next
